Last night was my 2nd time eating at Azul Tequilas this week. I'm a Las Vegas, NV native, I've been in Eastern North Carolina almost 4 years now. Being as I've only lived in a city built on entertainment and service I've had an endless selection of amazing places to eat, especially mexican food. After arriving here in ENC I quickly discovered that there aren't any restaurants I'd call amazing, and there certainly isn't any Mexican food that I'd even call decent. Oh, and 85% of the customer service is disgraceful. However, we were on the hunt for tacos Sunday afternoon and found Azul Tequilas. Boy oh boy, Amazing isn't even close to what I experienced. The food is the best Mexican food I've had since I moved to North Carolina. Actually, the best food I've had here, period. Their margaritas are among the best I've ever had, and I've had margaritas made by the top mixologists in the US, as well as all over Mexico. Lastly, the customer service is unbelievable. The people, the food, drinks, & atmosphere at Azul Tequilas has me so impressed that I'm writing a review to let folks know about it. For me to be impressed to this level is unheard of. I took my daughter there for dinner last night because it's also been almost 4 years since she's had an amazing dining experience. Our waitor's name was Angel. He took VIP level care of us, has a great sense of humor, and is extremely easy on the eyes. This place is 5 Star Michelin level on all levels. You need to stop reading reviews and go there, NOW! You won't be disappointed....
Read moreOur 2nd visit. She had the steak taco salad. She said the steak was quite good, but the rest was lackluster. She had asked for no sour cream, got it anyway. I ordered the El Guero combination plate. Chicken enchilada, beef taco, quesadilla. The taco was T-Bell-esque. I haven't had a crunchy American taco shell in forever. The quesadilla was simple. The enchilada included what at first I thought was a chicken bone in the last bite. It turned out to be a round toothpick. Extra fiber/roughage, I reckon. The salsa was too spicy for her. I thought it was delightful. Seated by the shift manager(?), we were roundly ignored until our plates were empty. My dining partner went to get me extra napkins. My water was only refilled at the last possible moment. The atmosphere is more sports bar than Mexican restaurant. When told of the toothpick surprise in the enchilada, a chuckling "I'm sorry." is all that was said. We likely will not be back. Pretty uninspired fare, and the toothpick wasn't as bad a finding a hair, but it might have been far worse had it stuck me in the roof of my mouth. Grateful it did not. No reason to...
Read moreHard to describe our experience. To be fair, we came for the first time on a really busy day (Father’s Day). The guy that greeted us and took our initial drink order was really rushed. He literally sat us down, gave us menus then immediately asked if we knew what we want to drink as we were just cracking the menu open. Again, not that it’s completely wrong but he really seemed out of his element. The other staff were really friendly and personable.
The food had really great flavor but lacked on quality tortillas. My wife’s tacos kept falling apart like maybe the tortilla wasn’t fully cooked or just too greasy. The tortillas I got with my meal were definitely store bought flour tortillas. The meat and nopales weren’t sliced all the way so it made it difficult to cut in the stone bowl without making a mess. Again, flavor was really great, just execution and quality tortillas were lacking. Overall, wouldn’t mind coming back on a less hectic day to give a second chance. The place...
