La Paz Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Goldsboro

La Paz has always been our got to for lunch when at work. We get an hour and normally have a little bit of time to spare when we get back. Wednesday(8/25/2021) a couple co workers and myself went there for lunch. We ordered got our drinks waited. About 20 minutes after we ordered I noticed that everyone who had ordered several mini after we did had already gotten their food and almost done. So I found a waitress and ask about our food she said she would check on it. Well about 5-6 minutes went by she never came back out to give us an update. So I got up and walked up front and asked again about our food. The manager stated it’ll be out ASAP. After 35 minutes of waiting for our food and everyone who came in after us leaving we were able to eat. You could tell that our food had just been thrown together. I was so disappointed. 1. Because our waitress never said anything about our food taking so long nor did she check 2. When I ask the other waitress she just blew off as no big deal. After we got our food my co workers ask our waitress for a to go cup and box for the food. We had to wait for that as well because she “forgot”. We finally got our check and she handed it to us and told us to go up front and pay. I have never paid up front unless I got a take out and everyone else was paying their waiter. We go up front to pay and have to wait. Now I understand there is a shortage of employees but the restaurant was not busy as they normally are so the staff they had was plenty. We pay for the food and the manager blames it on new employees and staff shortage. Again the waitress was not new (I’ve had her before) and the place was not normal 12:00 lunch busy. The food I ordered was not great. I expected more from a Mexican restaurant. I sat down and was served chips and salsa, but I think it was tomato sauce with bits of cilantro and it was tasteless it did not even have a touch of spiciness. I then asked for some Pico De Gallo instead think that would be better, well guess what I was served? I was served hastily chopped tomatoes, onions and cilantro....where is the hot peppers? I then asked for hot peppers and the waitress came back with some sliced jalapenos which I then started chopping up and making my own Pico De Gallo. To my dismay the jalapenos were not hot, they must have had the jalapenos stored forever and were never used and just sitting in the fridge. So next my meal came out which I ordered a steak with side of fries and rice. The steak had a lot of gristle and I worked with the steak it was okay not the best. I will no longer patronize this restaurant I called in my order & waited about 20 minutes before going to pick up the food, even though I was told 10 minutes. I get there & pay and they finally start cooking the food after 30 minutes. I’m sitting in the waiting area when a Hispanic customer comes in and he pays and receives his food immediately, & proceeds to say wow that was fast I just called, so I guess I sounded to black on the phone & my order couldn’t be cooked until I arrived to pay, so after he left I’m still waiting another 10 minutes so I just asked for my money back and left.
