Let me tell you how much I love WinCo ... I should be their spokesperson. To start, they are open 24 hours! This is great for crazy schedules, insomnia grocery shopping, sick family members that need things after hours, and avoiding crowds.
Second, the bulk bins! My favorite part. Sometimes I just need a little of an ingredient because I'll never use it again. Or sometimes I want to buy a lot for a huge recipe. You get to decide how much you're going to buy. The bulk prices are great. We've tried some of the bulk mixes like blueberry muffins and corn bread. You can even get things like agave. They are delish! Everything is fresh. And coffee it pretty good. Coffee prices are going up everywhere, so this is an affordable option. WinCo's coffee prices have also gone up, but still cheaper than other places. They have a huge variety to pick from.
Next bakery. GO GET THE BAGLES!!!!!! They are so good.
Next, produce. They have a pretty good selection. Mostly fresh. I inspect the produce before buying. I've only had a couple of fruits that weren't in great shape.
Then there's the "junk" isle of impulse buys that you probably don't need. I've come away with several things I don't need.
I usually skip the deli, but my son loves it and tells me you can get amazing prices on the precooked food.
Fridge, frozen, and grocery have pretty much everything I'm looking for. They have all the basics and then some. When you first come in the store, they have all the deals up front. You can find some pretty good prices.
They have a little food place area after checkout, kind of like Costco. You enter your order on the kiosk and pay. They have pizza, which is really good for it's price. $7.00 for a full pizza. Better than little Caesars, which is a similar price.
Checkout can be confusing because you need a debit card or cash. And they have this thing where they can have one customer being slow bagging their groceries (your bag your own, they don't do it for you), so there's a divider and it puts the next customer's items down a different conveyor belt. So you're not waiting on a slow person to bag. This is great, but sometimes you need to shimmy past the slow bagger to get to the other conveyer belt. They really should make it wider so it's easier to get by.
Great store overall. They keep it clean. I've been to other locations that are kind of gross, but the Goodyear location is clean and new, so I...
Read moreGreat food selection. Prices were reasonable. I went later in the evening (~10pm) which typically overlaps when stocking is occurring.
The selection of stonefruit was a bit lacking. This most likely is due to time of day of my visit.
I would love to rate the store 5 stars, however, I did into a few close calls with the powered equipment that were being used to bring out restock.
There were two pieces of equipment frequenting the floor, one was a reach truck and the other was a powered pallet jack. The reach truck was fairly easy to see and hear, both because of its size and weight, and it having a visible and audible alarm. The powered jack on the other hand, was extremely hard to locate due to its size, how fast it was moving, and it not having audible or visual alarms. With the pallets being staged on the salesfloor limiting the area for both people and equipment to move through, there were many close calls...
Read moreI've been to this WinCo several times over the last couple months and I've had nothing but amazing experiences with all of their associates! Crystal (or Kristin, I have a hard time hearing somrtimes) has checked us out the last three or so times my fiance and I have been there. She's always so kindhearted and you can tell she wants nothing more than to help those around her. She's very clearly all for customer/guest safety! Anytime I find an item near checkout that needs to be refrigerated and was left by another guest, I always hand it to her and she's always incredibly grateful since things like that can cause major food safety violations. She is nothing but helpful every time I'm there and it's such a breath of fresh air in the negative world we live in. I'm always very appreciative of WinCo and it's...
