I wish to add to my original review (posted below) from my visit approximately 4 months ago. I finally had a chance to visit the restaurant again recently. Therefore, this excerpt relates to the hospitality & food experience. The restaurant was quite busy with patrons, but not many chefs for the teppanyaki experience. I did notice a "help-wanted" sign on the door entrance. We were seated fairly quickly and the waitress did okay with taking the orders, drinks & appetizers from the nine people at the table. Unfortunately, after that we rarely saw her again. Getting her attention at the end of the meal took a little time. Overall, the meal was very nice, certainly plenty of food and the chef did all the usual things one comes to expect at such a dinner. From 4 months ago: My review doesn't include food quality, but only how management of this location lost my desire to visit again in the future. My wife so looked forward to a Japanese teppanyaki style dinner for her birthday. After spending some time online, I chose this restaurant. I did not see any mention of what was about to happen on arrival. Upon entering around 6:15 pm, I was told there were no tables available and that I could come back around 8:00p pm. I told the hostess we just drove from Sun City (about 20 miles) to get there. She apologized and explained that they were expecting a large party and that they only had two chefs to do the cooking. Mind you, each table can easily accomodate 8 to 10 people and there had to be at least 5 tables completely empty. In fact, the party of 6 that came in right behind us, also left right behind us. I don't know why the manager did not make appropriate arrangements to have available staff to handle the situation. I can't imagine the money that was lost and the number of patrons that left as upset as I was. A quick search brought up Hayashi Hibachi that was a couple miles away. My wife enjoyed the teppanyaki prepared meal, the chef was great and we met a nice family from Michigan...
Read moreUpon arrival atmosphere was great Hostesses were were there to greet us almost immediately. First preference wasn't available so we took a table. Unfortunately for us we were seated in Sydney's section she started out standard but quickly declined. She failed to pay attention missing a number of cues. When food was brought to the table(Medium Rare steak) my eyes locked on because I knew just by sight that it was over done she looked at me silently acknowledging my disdain and quickly retreated. She knew as well as I did that plate should've never made it to the table. It was sent back to be replaced and instead of her taking the plate, she required me to move all the meat onto a separate smaller plate that she returned to the kitchen. A busboy noticed I had moved the appetizer dishes to the end of the table because they weren't taken during the initial entree delivery. He took the dishes off my table within minutes. The second round of steak was medium well and still a disappointment, a $32 dish of which I only ate the vegetables. My water cup was empty for over 10 minutes and a refill had to be requested when she only came back to rush us along and ask if boxes were needed even though her section only had 2 other occupied tables. While I don't allow dishes to be taken off my check because I did order them regardless of my overall satisfaction it would have nice for her to offer seeing as how a plates of veggies would've cost me about $8 on average. She was given the standard 20% as a tip because we all need to work but I honestly would've preferred to have given it to the busboy. I did leave him the cash in my wallet at the hostess stand and wished I had more I would've thanked him personally but he was clearly focused on his job. It was my first visit to this chain on my companions recommendation and we were both disappointed, this was not her usual location. I will give Ah-So another try but definitely in a different location. Ending this on a good note my appetizer dish(Jalapeño Poppers) and my companions' meal(Seafood Plate)...
Read moreDamn! Wished I had read TH's review first! We left there about an hour and half ago, and had to come give this place a review. If it was even so-so mediocre, I wouldn't even bother posting this to inform everyone! We arrived, got seated quickly, place was half empty (Saturday at 7pm!). 5 minutes later, I stood up and waved to get attention, so guy came over and ask what I need, I said: "a server." 5 minutes later, I walked over to the hostess and asked for a server! 5 minutes later, a server came! I think he probably killed his dog or something, he was totally irritated when we all ordered water...geeze, we had 5 kids, do you really expect that we order 5 gallons of beer? Then he told us that we can't have tempura sweet potatoes, the tempura is preset with whatever they put in it, so we can't change it! Wrong answer buddy! We have been in the restaurant business longer than he has been waiting tables! I ordered seafood udon soup. About 5 minutes later, a waitress brings us our water, she brought one iced green tea, but we ordered two HOT green teas. She tells us that she is now our waitress cus the 'waiter' wanted to switch tables with her, basically he abandon us, wrong move, I was there with the most generous tipper tonight, always tips more than 20%!! My seafood udon soup came out stir fried in a sweet soy sauce, I need a gallon of water to wash that down, so I didn't eat it. The steaks were super salt too, I guess they get salt for free there. The sushi was all smothered in a sweet creamy mayo sauce, thick layer of rice, didn't even see much of the soft shell crab. Basically, super cheap with the fish and stuff, lots of rice, lots of sauce. Didn't refill our water, didn't come to ask if we need anything, didn't come to ask if food was good, we had to wave them over or they didn't come over. BTW, the parking lot was pretty full, but it was half empty inside...don't go, you are better off at Mcdonalds! I would like to give this a 5 DUMPS...
