Coastal Carolina Flea Market — Local services in Goose Creek

I'm not a fan of this flea market.. I'm from West Virginia, so I've been to some awesome flea markets up North in WV, Ohio, and a few other states. When I moved here, my boyfriend took me to this one knowing I love flea markets. He's taken me twice, here are my experiences and when I rated it 2/5 stars.

The first time we went, I though it was a pretty good size. It was hard to find a parking spot, but not a big deal. We walked through a few of the vendors outside, the ones that just pick up and come once in a blue moon (not the every weekenders) They had some cool items, nothing I was interested in but still a couple cool pieces. When we went inside there were a lot of vendor's. Most of them were ever week people. They had some familiar booths like home with the leather shop, sports shop, video game shop, NASCAR shop. It was neat. We found a few things in a couple of them that we bought. We had this couple who kept following us around, they were acting very weird. We think they were trying to steal from us, so we got away quick!! We walked clear out back and found a few things from the pick up and go a few times a year people (afterall you find the best items that way!) We went down the back outside, where it was covered. I could tell they were an every week people. I go into detail more about this section in my second visit, as it's all the same. They had to announce that someone was handing out fake money there as well, which is obviously not good! We were told it had happened the week before as well!!

Overall we had a successful first visit, finding some cool items! But, the overral flea market wasn't what I expected.

Now for the second visit, it wasn't so good. This is where my 2 stars come in. When we went again, we came out with absolutely nothing. We encountered a couple people who had no idea what they were doing, and it was just terrible. The main reason I gave it this rating is because of the vendors outside that I mentioned I'd talk about in this review. The first time and this second time we went they had the exact same things. Most of it was knock off MK, Coach, LV bags, Gucci Belts, Nike, Etc. Which I'm surprised hasn't been shut down, especially with them really cracking down on the inspired items. Almost all of them are being seized at customs and then you'll get a heafty fine and prison time for them! There is also a person at the end who has a ton of dvds and it was $7 at the cheapest for a movie which is INSANE! I'd never in my life spend that much on a used DVD from a flea market that I don't even know if it works! So if you want an overpriced/used possible working DVD, a fake LV, MK, Gucci Belt or Purse, or an Obama purse this is your place to go! As for me, I won't be back! Especially to the back of it!

If I were to ever go again, it'd be just to the very front to the people who are only there once in a blue moon. I wouldn't...

I am a vendor on the side where the cementary is and wanna say Gerri the collector is awesome. She treats everyone fair and has been trying to get customers from parking in are area. She has talked to owner management to get signs put up for us. I seen a post from Jennifer Burns you are the ones that give this girl a hard time. She is doing her job and you thought you can come and set up and pay when you make money. No she just said if you can not pay your money then you can leave. I see her no matter how rude you and your husband are to her she still greets you with and smile and Good morning. She treats all of us vendors the same and collects from all of us. She is not gonna back down just because she is fairly still new. Dan Davis you hired the right person for the job and the back area is looking good and cleaner and traffic and parking is better. When we asked Gerri to see if signs can go up she talked to you guys and it happened. I have seen her stand in the field telling people they can not park there. So awesome job on hiring Gerri. She does care about her job and treats us all like we need to be treated and yes she does have to come down on some that do not want to pay there $10 for the spot they are in. I saw some negative reviews about closing the "parking lot" to people who were setting up out there. Well you have to look at the big picture. It used to be ok when the flea market was packed with bootleggers and there wasn't an empty table to be found. That is where the overflow went as to not turn anyone away.Since they are not allowed anymore due to legal reasons there is plenty of empty spaces in the actual market. There is not a need anymore to use the parking lot. We can now use it as a parking lot. There was also mention of nothing but junk and trash that it wasn't worth going. Well the owners of the market have since started cleaning up the place. Eliminating a lot of those that used to leave stuff 7 days a week 365 days a year and would have weathered merchandise and merchandise that couldn't even be given away. A lot of people never make it to the inside. Inside is where the "little guy" has their business because, they can't make it on the outside due to "Walmart" or those other big merchandisers. There are a lot of vendors such as myself that offer a service you can't get out there in the busy world. Hand made quality merchandise with a one on one specialized attention.
