I always appreciated having the hardware store in town. Its nicely laid out and has most everything you need. It is pricey, but the convenience is worth it and I do like to support the local stores.
I had purchased 5 pieces of lumber and went back the next day to exchange 2 pieces and return one. The young man at the store informed me very loudly that they do not return lumber and it posted 'everywhere'. #1 On my receipt, well ... at that point I have already purchased. #2 In the lumber yard, well ... he had gone to the lumber yard, not me, to get my order. #3 Up high on board between the 2 registers, I had not even walked past that sign and just went straight to paying at the first register inside the door.
The young man was not empathetic and was authoritative toward me. I can understand the policy, to an extent, for wood that has been out of the store for a long time possibly in the elements. I had the wood in my possession less than 24 hours. Maybe make it a practice to verbally inform customers when they buy lumber? Customer service should still be practiced even if you are the only game in town. As for me, I won't be back. I could, and now wish I had, brought those 5 pieces of wood...
Read moreI can’t even begin to say how happy and grateful I am at this moment because of this Packwood ACE hardware store. I might sound a little crazy but my husband was nice enough to drive me there over Skate creek RD considering all the potholes all because of my tile project. I decided that I don’t like the black and white tile so he said come on let’s go get some paint. This store was going to close very soon and the men working there were more than nice. They were so helpful and I was able to pick out a color to paint my tile. I just didn’t want to get stuck having to look at the ugly tile every time I have to wash dishes. They mixed the paint and the end result is amazing. I am thrilled with the color. And they were so nice to help us out. Really a big...
Read moreCashier (thin guy, hat, goatee) made a huge fuss that I made a return. I said I still needed to buy several more items, so he knew I was still in the store but proceeded to very loudly (passive-aggressively) complain to another employee about the return. Surprising to see a grown man, a “professional”, act this way so I called him out. He said he was the store owner, which was surprising because people make returns all the time. It’s a pretty basic function of a retail store and it will happen again lol. Don’t act unprofessional if someone returns something. Or just change your return policy so you don’t have to cry about it. Such an annoying & unnecessary interaction. I will gladly spend my money elsewhere...
