Three days ago, I visited Highland Nail Bar for a nail fill. I had originally gotten a full acrylic set done at a salon in Fort Worth, but due to time constraints, I needed to find a local spot in Granbury. I donโt get my nails done often, so I relied on Google reviews to choose a salon & based on the ratings, I decided to give this place a try.
When I arrived, I asked if they did acrylic fills. The woman at the front looked at my nails, smiled & said yes before seating me and having me choose a color. Everything seemed great at first. The woman next to me even praised her nail tech.. who happened to be the same woman doing mine, named Rose. I was genuinely excited.
That excitement quickly faded.
Rose asked if I wanted to keep my almond shape & I said yes. Without hesitation, she clipped all my nails down to the fingertips. I was confused but didnโt speak up.. Iโve never had a fill before, so I didnโt want to come off as disrespectful. Then she removed the top coat with a drill & began prepping my nails with cotton and, what I realized was, acetone. I asked politely, โIs this part of a fill?โ She nodded & said, โIโm redoing them for you.โ
I said, โOhโฆ are they too grown out? I just wanted a fill.โ She then said, โWe donโt do fills. Iโll do a new set.โ I was shocked but politely asked if I would be charged for a new set.. She said yes, $50. At that point, I felt cornered. My nails were already soaked in acetone & I didnโt have many options, so I reluctantly agreed.
At the end, she asked if I wanted my cuticles cut for $5 more. I was confused again, as that has always been a standard part of the service at other salons. I politely declined, but she looked irritated & said, โIโll do them.โ
She ended up cutting me.. badly. One finger started bleeding significantly. Rather than stopping to properly sanitize or treat it, she sprayed rubbing alcohol from a broken bottle that splattered blood & alcohol across the table. She handed me a cotton ball to hold while she went on to putting top coat on. When she returned to that finger, I was still bleeding. She dabbed at it & then used the same top coat brush.. dragging it across the still bloody wound & putting the brush back into the bottle. I was horrified. She saw my reaction & casually said, โYouโll be okay, itโs just a little cut.โ Then shook the bottle and placed it back on the shelf.
Even more shockingly, she dabbed nail glue directly onto the cut and sent me on my way. I still left a $10 tip becauseโฆ truthfullyโฆ the nails turned out decent. But I will never return.
This experience was not only unprofessional but incredibly unsanitary. The risk of bloodborne pathogens being spread from client to client is very real & I left feeling sick to my stomach thinking about the implications. Please think twice...
ย ย ย Read moreI went here for the first time on Thursday for a gel mani and a pedicure. I went with a friend who got the basic pedicure. I purchased the $60 pedicure and was also persuaded on arrival, by the manager, to purchase the gel pedicure for $15 extra. The tech I was assigned told me he has only been working for a week or so and is also very young. My friend got an experienced woman. He didnโt even massage my left leg with the hot stonesโฆ. At all. On my right leg he made about two passes with the stones; it was clear he did not know how to use the stones. My legs and feet were massaged for a combined total of five minutes with his hands. He did not cut my cuticles on my toes or the skin around them to clean them up. My toenails arenโt filed correctly, they are jagged and all different lengths. He didnโt use the metal grater on my feet (which was a service listed) only a pumice stone. He was trying to use the pumice on the arch of my foot, where the skin is soft. I do not think this individual has a license to do this. NO HOT TOWELS. I left with the paraffin wax still all over my feet, it was not warm when it was applied nor did he know how to remove it all correctly. Not only was he very inexperienced, he too was in a rush as they were closing early to attend the new year party. Everyone came by to see how he was doing on my pedicure and then left him there to struggle. To cash out took 15 minutes or more because he did not know how to work the computer. There was also a disagreement between staff while we were there and the employees were having an argument, yelling at one another. This cost me $110 and was the worst experience Iโve ever had receiving a pedicure. Poor business management to give someone paying so much money a novice employee and then leaving him behind to struggle and not caring to stay to check his poor work before leaving early, which was before the listed closing time. I will not be returning to this business and I do not recommend it to anyone for a pedicure. My nails are decent, the manager did them, although he left space at the bottom which will cause me to redo them in less...
ย ย ย Read moreThis was the worst customer service I have ever experienced! Went to have a pedicure with the girls, extremely pushy sales, and claim the rudeness is due to not being able to speak very good English! Made several rude comments thru out the pedicure. Will never be back to this establishment! They also โforgotโ to charge for a service to one of the people I was with and made her run her card again and charged her another 5$ fee for using her card! She paid close to 10$ in fees because she made her run it twice! There are WAY to many nail salons around here to go to put up with this shotty service and sneaky fees!! Save your $ and go somewhere else!
RESPONSE TO YOUR RESPONSE: Yes, you may have your service fees posted but you ran our card for our services, charged the fee, and then said oops, I'm sorry, I forgot to charge you for one of your services, ran our card AGAIN AND CHARGED ANOTHER MERCHANT FEE FOR YOUR MISTAKE BECAUSE YOU HAD TO RUN OUR CARD TWICE! That is sneaky shady business practices! You don't charge customers for YOUR mistakes, not to mention the awful customer service we already recv'd. I have been to your establishment a few times and have ALWAYS recv'd RUDE AND PROLONGED customer service. I would not have even went here for the services I did recv. if it hadn't been for the other people I was with wanting to go there. But now, thanks to the awful service we recv'd I will NEVER be back, and now neither will the other...
