Frank's Market — Local services in Grand Rapids

My fiancé took me here on our most recent visit to her hometown. When we walked in, we were greeted right away by nearly every employee in the building. My favorite part was that they meant it, and left us alone when we said we wanted to look around. Most places will harass you and chase you through the store trying to push their wares, but these guys were awesome. They let us look, but were ready to answer our questions afterward. They let us try several of the items we asked about. Their recipe for kielbasa is one of the best I've had, and it is obvious that they take great care in the prepping of the ingredients, because we never once came across a hunk of tendon or cartilage in our samples or purchase. We've all found those gummies and crunchies in our food. My advice, try the krackle. It's basically the regular kielbasa, but in loaf form that they suggested as a sandwich meat. It ended up going into our omelets instead, but it was very tasty. Since we were flying back to FL in the morning, I mentioned we would not be buying as much as we wanted to, but then they showed us their cryovac. Coming from a culinary background, I knew we no longer needed to worry about transportation. Vacuum sealed, frozen overnight, our treats made it home safely. We ordered some beef jerky as a stocking stuffer. However, on Christmas they were spoiled. It was apparent to us that they had needed to be refrigerated. I went to call Franks and let them know that it would be a good idea to let customers know that it would be best to refrigerate the meats because I had no clue they were supposed to be. During the phone call the employee was very rude and said we have too many customers to deal with this small matter. I’ve never been brushed aside as quickly as this. First visit and I will surely be back for more. There's a bunch of stuff in there from Delmonico steaks to frozen pierogi. I got a bunch of different products from their deli subs, to some porterhouse steaks, to the German weiners and hot shots. I couldn't wait to get back to the truck, untwist the tie and chomp into some good weiners. The staff was super friendly and extremely helpful in picking out whatever I wanted. The store is amazing and clean. It's a small building, but easy parking and ever a nice ramp for those who hate stairs.
