Sierra — Local services in Grand Rapids

I was THRILLED when I realized this had opened near my house. In preparation for a backcountry camping trip this weekend, I ran into Sierra to pick up a few things I needed or wanted to upgrade. They did not have MOST of my list. Disappointing considering this is supposed to be an outdoor hobby store.

Lightweight jetboil or msr cook/stove attachment. The small tripod. fanny pack or lightweight drawstring bag. pants that zip off to shorts, size 0-2 lightweight tall hiking socks, size S mosquito net for hammock dehydrated instant meals, vegetarian spork lightweight mug baseball hat, size sm or adjustable

I think this is a typical pack list for any camping trip so I was really disappointed to find that they didn’t have any of the things...

Place isn't bad, but not a lot of clothing sizes. I bought one item and used their new "email receipt system" they said this way we have a it on file and don't need you to bring in a receipt if you need to return the item. I thought awesome... NOT SO MUCH! Came in to return my one item and it took 6 people over an hour to try and find my receipt. I told them forget it just give me in store credit and they couldn't figure out how to do that either!! The employees were all very nice and were trying but wow what a POS system they have to work with! They never did figure out how to return my item to my card or give me in store credit. We are talking a $120 item! If I had a paper receipt this would of never happened. Do NOT use the email...

This Sierra is always so clean including their bathrooms. At the end of winter, the selection gets rough due to cleaning out shelves for new stock then there's a delay until Spring to get new seasonal items.

Besides that, there is such an amazing array of products for every season. They always have sports and outdoors equipment, luggage and shoes. They have brand name items like Hoka or ON shoes, brand name attire and sunglasses and much more. Love getting upscale items for discounts. Get a range of items from $5-$100+. Also have cat and beauty supplies. It's like an REI+Marshall's+Dick's sporting goods. They are partnered with TJ Maxx...
