This is an absolute disgrace for one of the largest airports on earth (by volume) to have such a pathetic public transit situation. Pay the price for an Uber or have a friend pick you up. Otherwise, this is what you can expect:
Walk to and wait for a Terminal Express Bus to take you from whatever terminal you arrived at to Terminal A (est. 10 to 15 minutes).
Walk to the Station from Terminal A, only to find that there are only 2 ticket machines, so you may miss your train waiting for others to purchase their tickets...and the trains only run every 20 minutes.
Once at the ticket machines you'll find that BOTH are broken. They don't accept cards, cash, coins, anything!! I missed a train trying to get a ticket while nothing worked. I heard from a frequent traveler that the machines are often broken: this is normal for DART.
Now you're out 20 to 30 minutes and you have to consider: board the train without a pass and face a Misdemeanor if caught, or backtrack to the aiport Terminal and get an Uber.
Oh, and they forgot to think about a place to put luggage. There's literally nowehere to put it that it's not either rolling around, blocking the aisle, or blocking a seat.
What an absolute disgrace...but a good picture of what the government of the City of Dallas is like: the poster child for unrighteousness, incompetence, and...
Read moreOn DART, you can get downtown for $3 in just under an hour, not counting the time spent waiting for a train. It's slower than taking a cab or an Uber, but about 10 times cheaper. It's also a great, easy way to save on parking - just park at your home station and ride to the airport.
If you can, walk to Terminal A or B from the station and enter security there, then take the Skytrain inside security to get to the terminal you're actually flying out of. It's very fast and comes about every two minutes with mechanical precision.
The only annoying thing about using DART to get to/from the airport is when you can't enter or leave security at A or B. If that happens, you can't take the SkyTrain and are stuck using the slow, infrequent, unreliable TerminalLink buses outside security to get around. This could happen if you have to pick up or drop off checked bags from a terminal other than A or B (or if you're flying with an airline other than American and you need to see a kiosk or ticket agent outside security - to check in, for example - because terminals A and B only have customer service for passengers on American or other...
Read moreI missed my greyhound bus because of the terrible rail system. Departure times and train so inaccurate and confusing. The previous train departed 3 mins earlier than its posted time. Then I read the sign, “next train departing on other track....” went to the other track, waited 17 mins on the train. Chatted with a Dart employee who was also upset that the train left 3 mins early. She kept complaining and complaining. Complained to me and to whoever else she called on her phone.
Last second, someone outside yelled, the train is leaving on the other side of where we are... from the wrong track. The employee and I had to sprint over with all my luggage just the catch the train. This is so ridiculous! First and last time riding Texas Dart.
Greyhound bus departed exactly when it said it would... so I missed it....
