I have been to many, many game stores. More than I could count and Grass Valley Games is everything you wish a game store could be.

Unlike many games shops that are packed away in strip malls or down back alleys, Grass Valley Games has a prominent place in downtown. Complete with a fantastic sign that looks straight out of a fantasy town, a super cool giant D20, and an amazing storefront that's sure to charm you, it's nearly impossible to resist stopping into GV Games.

The first thing I noticed when stopping in is that that they have a fantastic stock of games. The store is by no means huge, so they can't have an endless selection of games, but they have a really wide assortment of games, most of which are not the usual big box store available ones. They also cover the gamut of genres, so whatever type of game you like to play they're sure to have a few options.

Despite a fairly small store, they manage to have a wide selection of games, comics, graphic novels, miniatures, cards, etc. All of this is possible because they have maximized the use of space and are extremely well organized. They even have a very welcoming play area towards the back, with tables where people can try out demo version of the games, which is just such a cool idea.

Lastly, the friendly and fun staff make the store feel really alive and entertaining. It's clear how much the staff love D&D, board games, trading cards, etc, and they're excited to help you find what you need. I don't get to Grass valley Much anymore, but anytime I'm there I'm sure to stop into Grass valley Games to pick up...

This game store is always well stocked and well-kept, and everyone seems to be highly knowledgeable, but what I appreciate about it the most is its staff, and the gaming community they host..

I work as a companion for a woman with autism, as well as some other variations of neurodiversity, and she is an avid gamer that loves to visit this store. Her behaviors, especially when excited, can be irritating and overwhelming for people, but every time we visit Grass Valley Games, the staff and everyone in there are not only amazingly patient and deeply kind, they actually engage with her and treat her with so much respect. They allow her to disrupt their game, don’t react to her volume or repeating stories, and let her commandeer their conversations without showing annoyance-they welcome her interest and commentary, and it never feels patronizing or disingenuous.

While it should be that way everywhere, sadly that’s not the case. I hope that the staff at this wonderful business and community hub it’s become understand just how much their kindness and acceptance means, to both of us. It allows a sense of belonging that is a part of a larger effort to provide that human connection that we all need and crave. I was planning to write a thank you note to the owner, but decided it would hold more value if I let everyone wondering about this store know how welcoming and...

BEST STORE IN TOWN! This store is so much fun to visit and has such a friendly environment. It has quickly become my favorite store in town for a couple reasons. The store has an amazing aesthetic. It is so much fun just walking around the store and seeing the huge collection of comics, games, miniatures, cards, and everything in between. And the staff is truly amazing. They are incredibly helpful and engaging and overall they are just some really nice people. Every time I enter the store I am greeted and I always end up having great conversations with the staff, often not even related to products but just genuine conversation. However if you are looking for answers to questions on products the staff is extremely knowledgeable about everything they sell. This store is so much fun to hang out in and play games with friends or just to stop by and pick up some comics.
