Do not use their dog washing station; it's a rip-off, and they don't honor what their website says. It says:
'No need to bring anything! You'll get access to our premium self-wash stations and we'll supply shampoo, conditioner, combs, brushes, towels, blow-dryers and aprons."
My wife and daughter were there today with our Pomeranian puppy. Here it is in her words:
I've never had much luck at Petco. I recently went back because I have a new puppy that needed a nail trim. The website said that nail trims were something among other grooming services, that would be done via walk in (no appointment needed). Got there and there was a sign on the register that said no walk-ins due to short staffing. The short staffing is getting old. Pay people more and they will want to work there. Besides this, I was intrigued that it looked like they had a self dog wash that may accommodate smaller animals. My daughter has been wanting to do the self dog wash, but every other place seemed to only have bigger dogs using this service. Petco's stations looked small dog-friendly. I checked for a worker to ask but there was no one to be found. Anyone could have stolen something and ran out the door without anyone knowing. The front area was empty for at least 5 minutes. Hopefully they have cameras. I was excited to tell my daughter of the possibility of doing the self wash and we went there the following Sunday. We had our Puppy and asked about the pet wash and said we have never done this before. They said it was ok for my puppy to use, took my money, and someone at that point showed us the wash. The pressure of the wash was way too forceful for a small puppy. I don't think some of the lines had soap, and there was definitely no conditioner. If I would have known about the water pressure ahead of time we would have not done the wash. Instead we tried putting our hand over the stream when washing her to not make it so forceful. Since no soap and conditioner were coming out, I figured it was kind of silly to stay. We got her out and were given 2 "towels" which were the size of 2 wash rags. Definitely not enough to dry her. The hairdryer was also too forceful for our puppy and it was cold. We weren't provided a brush even though the website said that brushes would be provided. I had my 7 year old ask someone thinking they just forgot a brush. Nope! Brushes are not provided only a shampoo massager and a couple of flimsy towels.
Do NOT bring a dog there less than 15lbs. At the West Mason Street location, bring your own shampoo, conditioner, towels and a brush. I can understand if you have a big hairy dog that the high pressure water and cold dryer would be nice for them. Just be prepared to bring these other things. I just wish the staff would have told me, a newbie to this, that our dog was too small, and also told us what was and wasn't included since it was different from the website description. I am sure the lack of soap and conditioner was just an oversight, but staff really should have checked this before letting us use the bath.
I'm just very disappointed and would like my money back. Tried calling since my pup was drenched, unbrushed and freezing we decided just to hurry home. Guess what? Only got voice mail and I tried several times . I left a lengthy voice mail, so I hope someone calls me back to discuss...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHere's an honest review from a very upset special needs parent and an auntie to the boy you broke the heart of this afternoon (10/7/2023 approximately 2:30pm.) To the woman with the short sandy hair and glasses that ignored us for a good 20 minutes all the while helping others on the sales floor and visiting with staff, while your two other associates near the fish thought it was social hour not work time, and the other ran the register by herself.... I am not sure what your issue was today, but your customers come first. I have been to this location a couple times and the East, and I know from many years as a Petco customer that you can in fact allow your customers to handle the snakes and lizards and at the very least you can allow them to pet the critters. How else are you going to get them adopted? How else are you going to properly educate a potential owner? My nephew has waited two weeks for this pet store visit, we walked over a mile to get there today to be treated so poorly. My son has Autism and these pet store visits are often very therapeutic to him. Your attitude was totally uncalled for!! You are šÆ percent in the wrong line of work. I will no longer visit Petco West or spend my money at any petco store. With people like this working, I can only imagine how well those animals and other customers are treated on a daily basis.... And no, a generic "I'm sorry your visit fell short of your expectations" isn't going to solve what happened today.
Customers aren't an inconvenience, they are the reason you have a paycheck. My boys did not at all deserve to have to question all day why you did that to them. Discrimination is not ok so kindly go step on a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs we know, life is not perfect, my dogs nail cutter is indefinitely on vacation and my young, healthy dogs nails were very sharp & people were getting scratched badly, I have a very hectic schedule & finally had time to get him in, this place commercializes walk-ins as far as nails, my dogs rabies shot is expired by a year, the groomer said they can't do the nails, this place commercializes rabies shots, so I went to inquire, even if you get the shot, it's still a 24 hour wait, They were unwilling to administer the shot saying they were booked until later & I could come in later, but they usually won't take walk ins, I left disgusted, honest advertising would be we can't do the services we offer without the rabies shot, and it has to be over 24 hours when the shot is given, we advertise we have the rabies shot available but we are unwilling/ unable to give them upon request, and we will NOT help you if you are in a rough spot, It's okay Petco, I found Doggie Day Spa in DePere understood my situation, helped out & got me scheduled for a cheaper Rabies shot than yours, so thanks for nothing! If your life's not perfect, don't...
