I cannot laud Dress for Success enough. If I should express my joy and respect, I could write a few pages. First of all, thank you for honoring Palm Beach teachers gratis as part of your recognition of what we do and who we are. I went there expecting to be outfitted with a couple of used items. From the time I walked into the building, it displayed a super clean place exuding a professionally welcoming atmosphere. As I entered their suite, I was greeted by two beautiful women who introduced themselves politely and one of them guided me to this beautiful, organized, high-class boutique. The clothes are mostly high-end quality super clean, and well-organized. I have shopped at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue and believe me, this venue gives them a run for their money. I walked out with beautifully fitted clothing and all-inclusive accessories, including shoes. That is not all. The program itself helps women prepare for entry into professional employment. The staff women coach, teach, encourage, and inspire women from start to finish. The director, Mrs. Fletcher possesses this easy-going quiet strength that trickles down to the rest of the organization. Thank you, thank you, thank you. What a fun time I had finding a skirt and blouse with Henny, my fashion consultant, today at "Teacher - DRESS FOR SUCCESS!" We finally came up with the perfect ensemble - a tan pleated cotton skirt with a cute patterned top. I was suppose to get a jacket or sweater with my outfit, but no coordinating one could be found. I should have thought to get a utilitarian jacket one to go with slacks - an extra opportunity for professional panach! Que sera, sera... After finding my back-to-school outfit, I was treated to a bag I could fill with teacher bling (and it already had some cute items inside such as a clear handbag and a teacher key fob). Some local agancies were there, too. I had a nice chat with Florida Rural Legal Services and got the best hand fan for my evening concerts in Wellington. I also talked with Fabienne of ABA Centers, a diagnostic and therapeutic agency for children with autism. In fact, she was excited to know about my son's book, "Regular." He navigated the PBCSD schools in the ASD program. My final stop was a laugh-fest with the Clinique representatives who gifted me with cleanser, exfoliate, and moisturizer (and a lipstick pen) after finding out I was once a die-hard Clinique user (back in the day when they sold bar face soap...soooo many years ago). I went with my ride or die friend and retired teacher/substitute teacher, Mary. She got the royal treatment, too! Kudos to DRESS FOR SUCCESS! I got some good pieces of clothes here with which to go on interviews with. I give it two stars because overall, it was an odd and humiliating experience which I had hoped that it wouldn't be. I arrived at my appointment time and saw no signs that the place was open. I went around to the back to see if there was another entrance door. After awhile, I knocked on the front door and the lady who answered seemed confused by why I was there. They were helping another person. The woman who answered the door was very odd and asked me the same questions repeatedly, either she was forgetting my answer or wasn't paying attention. What made it a bad experience for me was the woman who seemed to be in charge of everything, she was condescending and had an air about her that I was lower than her. I literally felt ashamed to be there because of the way she looked at me throughout the visit, and she barely spoke to me directly, she spoke to me through her helper. At the end, she asked me to fill out a survey about my experience and literally stood over me as I filled it out. That is the only reason why I gave my experience a good rating, because it would have been to awkward to be honest with the person literally standing over your shoulder looking at...
