Called Buckeye Honda about an Accord and talked to Terry. My son and I went to look at it and upon arrival we walked around the Accord and noticed it didn't have any curb rash on the rims, remember this for later. Terry drove it for us as we rode along and it seemed ok. I told Terry I wanted new Goodyear tires the same as the ones on the car currently, new brakes, and rotors. I also asked if it would be a Honda True Certified and Terry verified it would be certified at the highest level. We also noted with Terry that the front passenger side bumper was not like the driver side where the bumper and fender meet. It was agreed that would be taken care of before the car was ready for pickup We went inside and he told the sales manager what I wanted. When he come back to us I asked to see if they could do the Wireless Apple Car Play update, which is $112 plus an hour or two of labor. Terry went back to the manager and he said they would do the other items I asked for but not the wireless car play update. I did not haggle on price at all since they agreed to my request for the new Goodyear tires, brakes and rotors per Terry. We decided buy the Accord but I told Terry I need the Honda True Certified and all the other items i requested in writing. He went over to the manager and came back with a "What is owed to the buyer" form. All that was on the form was the Honda True used. I requested that the new tires, brakes, rotors and bumper fix to also be on the form. At that time they were hand written into the form. All that was left was to wait for the work on the car to be completed and a call for pickup. A week later my wife and I made a trip to Columbus for my infusion. Around noon, I called Terry to see if the Accord was ready and I was assured it was ready. Twenty minutes later Terry calls and says they have not fixed the bumper and that we would not be able to pick the car up till tomorrow. I told Terry we weren't far away and that I would like to come look a the car with my wife. We arrive to find the tires were not replaced, and the rotor were not new. I tell Terry how I was not happy as the items on the "What is owed to the buyer" were not completed and that one of the rims had two fresh dents and a Honda blue scratch, see picture. Terry goes in and talks to the finance guy and after about 10-15 minutes they come out to talk to my wife and I. I express my feeling about the items not being completed as requested and agreed to. The finance guy pulls out the " What is owed to the buyer" form and someone had drew an arrow to tires with the work "inspected" underlined twice next to it. This is where buyers need to beware of this practice. I'm pretty sure it is not good for a dealer to add something to the "What is owed to the Buyer" form that reduces what is owed to the buyer. After seeing this my reply was that "inspect" was not there when I signed the form. I was repeatedly asked what I want them to do several times and my reply was " do what was agreed to". Finance guy added up what it would cost them and asked me again what I wanted and I replied the same. I also asked them to see what they could do about the new Honda blue scratch on the rim This was a Thursday, forward two days to Saturday and I called Terry to see if the car would be done. I was told all it needed was washed up and it would be ready. I told Terry since I live a couple hours away that I would head that way to get the car and he agreed that should be fine. Arrived at dealer and found new rotors. The tires where new but an off brand and not Goodyear as requested. The bumper to fender alignment looked better, but not 100% required by the Honda True Certified. Also the scratch on the rim was not addressed. Tired of dealing with this we went inside to find Terry not there even though we talked on the phone and he knew when we would be there to pick up the car. If you deal with Buckeye Honda just make sure your specific and get a copy of the "what is owed to the buyer". I did not get a copy of that form with...
Read moreDisappointed. Been talking about a 2022 Civic SI for a few months that has been on back order. Price supposed to be $31k rounding up, with some sort of dealer added warranty and floor mats, today there is a new market adjustment adding $5k to the price. Extremely disappointing to talk about pricing during two physical visits to the dealership and when the vehicle arrives change the price with the excuse it’s a newly implemented policy since my last visit to add a Market Adjustment.
It’s been about 8 months, but I returned two days ago to look at an extremely low mileage used car that is loaded with options. After driving it, I discussed the price. I offered the advertised price with taxes and fees included as an out the door purchase offer knowing they at best paid $12k for this car. The sales associate did the usual have to ask my manager thing and wandered off to share my offer with the boss. When he returned he insisted I fill out the application for credit before the manager would approve it. I repeated my offer and said I would buy at that price. Sales guy wandered off again and returned with a guy who said he needed another $500 to make the deal. I quoted the highest book price I found and reiterated the offer I had already made. He said he could do it but insisted I get the financing through them. Turns out my over 800 credit score will get me a best rate of 9.17% with Vinton County National Bank according to the Buckeye Honda finance department. I questioned the high interest rate and I was told it was the best he could do. Turns out Vinton Bank is currently running a rate of 6.67% for borrowers with a high credit score. Looks like being force to use their finance allows them to make up their lost profit on the backend of the sale by giving me the sellers rate instead of the buyers rate from the lender. Capital One wouldn’t let them run a 9% interest rate, neither would PNC my requested lender. But I am assuming the sales associate didn’t bother to share that with the manager or the finance department. To sum up my experience, car was great, test drive was great, sales negotiation was ok when they accepted my offer but I was pressured into applying for credit to get the out the door offer approved. Then they came back twice to get me to agree to pay $500 more, then they accepted the offer I made as long as I let them get financing for the car. They increased the finance rate to make up the loss of their profit by accepting my offer. They have done this in the past. They try to rationalize their pricing and pushing to get more money for the vehicle by discussing their situation being damaged if I don’t pay their asking price. I thought I was being generous with my offer. The Buckeye Honda slogan of the being a “Dealer you can trust” isn’t exactly accurate with this sale. I’ll pay the car off early to reduce the interest and if I buy another car from this dealer I will get approved for a loan before I go and do a cash deal. The last time I bought a car from Buckeye Honda I was hounded to do a review about my sales experience for weeks as soon as I left the store via email, text message, and a few voicemail messages. Not a single request for this...
Read moretook my car in on on February 25, 2022 reference number#2677871. due to I kept leaking coolant out, so I thought I will get a diagnostic test ran it will tell me everything wrong with the car, the test said that I needed a new water pump, new thermostat new drive belt and transmission cooler line. I had to leave my car over night for a part to be ordered, no big deal right. I picked my car up the next day drive it home and did not leave again until Thursday afternoon when I noticed a huge coolant puddle on the ground so i opened up my hood and seen my coolant was completely empty again. So I took it back to the shop, March 3rd 2022. reference number # 2678227 the did yet another test and said that the new water pump that they just stuck in must of malfunction and i needed yet another one. It was all done for free since I had just paid to do it the week before. When I went to go pick up my car they gave me a new invoice telling me other things wrong with my car. Now my issue is that when I brought up that I just had a diagnostic test done by them days before I had asked why it wasn't reported on the paper they gave me saying the head gasket needed replaced, as well as 2 spark plugs. The mechanic told me to my face that once he found the water pump leaking he stopped looking. So to me this says you either dont care to do your job correctly or you plain dont care about the customers either way I tried to find the President of the company mr. gerald spires, and ceo mr timothy spires, or even general managment brett conrad email's so I could submit my complaint to them instead of having to blast it all over the internet. To me something should be done. this is crazy that I now have to spend more money on a problem that should have been brought to my attention the first time of bringing my vehicle in when I had the diagnostic test ran to begin with. Isn't that the whole point of having that test done?! I do not recommend them if your going to have a diagnostic...
