DXL Big + Tall — Local services in Greenfield

Had disappointing experience here as a fairly frequent DXL shopper as we were harassed by the store manager. Partner and I went in to go pants shopping and the store was practically empty on a Sunday afternoon. As DXL clothes (and big and tall clothes in general) tend to vary widely in sizing between brands and also are expensive we both tried around 5-6 options before finding some ones we settled on.

As we were folding and rehanging our pants outside the dressing room we were confronted by the store manager who asked what the issue with the clothes was. when we told him we were trying things on and found what we wanted we received silence and an uncomfortable look. when we asked if that was an issue he told us “Yeah that’s too much” a and then walked away from us leaving us shocked. Does DXL not want folks trying their clothes on in store or would they prefer endless returns of hundreds of dollars of merchandise?

Younger employee at checkout was nice and when we told him about our experience he was surprised by that trying the pants on would be an issueand informed us that was the store manager Velved. Both of us left the store upset and uncomfortable after spending lots of money today and also at these stores in the past. Very disappointing and frustrating that a store catering towards big people would go out of their way to make larger folks feel unwelcome for the act of trying clothes to make sure they fit our bodies well. This was the first time I shopped at a DXL store for my husband. Usually we buy his clothes online, along with his shoes. I really enjoyed stopping in and I’ll definitely do much, much more shopping here in person from now on. I bought a couple polo shirts (and holy smokes the huge selection of colors was amazing) and a pair of Sketcher sneakers for my hubby and I was FLOORED to see that I could buy him polos for less than what we pay online for plain t-shirts! Also, the Sketchers were HALF what I usually pay for his sneakers. The clothes are very nice and the staff is knowledgeable and very accommodating. That being said however the clothes are quite expensive but that is understandable because it is a specialty store that caters to larger individuals such as myself. You usually can't find a lot of the sizes that they carry in general department stores. not sure if anybody realizes how hard it actually is to find a 2X tall in a regular department store. You can often find 2x but finding the tall sizes are often very difficult. as for the price if you get the app and are a regular shopper you can save some money they alsooften send out coupons to people that are on their mailing list so you can save some money...
