This was my first time going inside an Ollie's store. My first visit was at their location in New Bern a few weeks ago. I went there specifically loolking for a fan that looks like headphones because a friend recommended them to me. However, they were out of stock, so I figured I'd check the Greenville location. This is the worst official store I can ever remember entering. I used the term official because I've been in businesses where someone was just trying to get started or they were running a bootleg store. But as far as established businesses, this was the worst by far!
I understand the nature of this type of business where the inventory is constantly changing, and it's difficult to keep items together on shelves, but this was ridiculous! To be honest, I did not look throughout the entire store because I was so disappointed and aggravated that I left. However, the aisles I did walk had shelves of items on them, which looked like a very unorganized flee market. There were empty boxes, items not straightened or aligned, what appeared to have been opened box or returned items, and what just looked like junk. The worst thing I noticed was that the place was just nasty and dirty. The amount of dirt/mud/trash that was on the floor shocked me. I don't know how a business can be run looking like this.
One of the reasons I got aggravated was that once I located the men's restroom, I found a partition, normally used in the display area of a store, blocking the entrance. It was very obvious to me, based on the signage and junk in this area, that it had been out of order for an extended amount of time. One handwritten sign warned of going beyond the sign in spite of the restroom being out of order. I've had friends recommend Ollie's to me, but this can't be what they experienced in the store! I'm not a neat freak by any stretch of the imagination, but this place was ridiculous! I have no idea how a business owner could allow his/her establishment to look like this and expected to be profitable and successful.
In my opinion, this place needs to be shut down for a couple of weeks so that a crew can go in to clean and organize it. Before it's reopened, a new standard needs to be established and trained to the staff or enough staff needs to be hired so that there's enough manpower to meet the standards. I can't see myself ever returning to the Greenville location unless I hear someone speaking on some major improvements made at this location. However, I would gladly revisit the New...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited the store while on a trip from Kentucky. About 8 months ago I went in there with a friend and the experience was decent.. I just visited last week the same store while visiting my friend in Greenville. I had to use the restroom and I was shocked at how filthy and disgusting the men's room was. Toilet paper all over the floor stuck dry on urine on the toilet seats. The sink was filthy with grime and dirt. There's a check off list on the door saying that they check the bathrooms. It's obvious that it's just quickly checked off but not actually looked at. And it was 3 weeks old. I literally have not forgotten about this disgusting restroom. Every time that I go into a public restroom in any business here in Lexington Kentucky where I live I am reminded of that disgusting filth I walked into. I brought it to the attention to the cashier and no surprise she was least interested. Matter of fact she didn't even say anything in return. Terrible terrible...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI do enjoy the discounts I usually receive at Ollie's. However, at my last visit, I noticed a purchase of $15.00 & I knew that I had not bought an item for that specific amount. I double checked my items compared to my receipt in my car & confirmed that it was a error. I reentered the store & politely explained it to the cashier who assisted me. She told me I had to bring all my bags of items back inside for her to check everything off. Long story short, a roll of .99 tape was the culprit. Somehow there was an error which caused the error. Anyway, I just want to warn all customers for ALL transactions & everywhere, to be sure that you are not being overcharged, because often, the error is a mistake, but I almost always try to check my receipts here lately to be sure all looks okay. God...
