👍The good: Lots of Asian grocery Chinese, Japanese, Korean you name it. Prices generally lower than Hmart Pretty spacious so lots of room to walk around Pretty extensive dish and kitchenware section if you're looking for cute asian style bowls and utensils
👎The bad: Smells god awful, especially near the fish & meat section so I do not trust the fish there at all. The non-asian produce (cucumbers, tomatoes) were rotten and moldy. The Asian produce (leeks, nappa cabbage) all looked fine though. Only 2 people at the checkout so the lines were piling up. They also don't really speak English so you better know exactly what you are buying and how much it costs unless you can speak Chinese. Nobody seemed to be willing help, just had their heads down refilling the isles. Typical of these types of stores so if you need to find something you're basically on your own unless you can speak Chinese.
I'll probably be back because I usually like buying Japanese stuff and I know what I need to get so I don't really need assistance. If you are completely unfamiliar with Asian food stuff though you're basically out of luck. I think for produce though Hmart is better and has more specifically Japanese things I usually look for. If you are primarily buying Chinese groceries though this place has everything including many varieties of...
Read moreI am appalled by the blatant discrimination I experienced at this store's grand opening today. After shopping, I approached register 3, where a customer ahead of me was warmly greeted and offered freebies for their grand opening in their native language. The cashier clearly went above and beyond to ensure this customer felt appreciated.
However, when it was my turn, I was met with complete indifference. The cashier did not acknowledge me at all—no greeting, no smile, nothing. After I paid and thanked her, I was left stunned when she ignored me and moved on to the next customer, who happened to share her ethnicity. You cannot offer freebies only to people of your background and ignore others of different ethnicities.
This kind of treatment is unacceptable and reflects poorly on a business that has just opened its doors. It is crucial for management to understand that all customers deserve equal respect and service, regardless of their ethnic background. Discrimination has no place in any establishment, especially one that is trying to establish itself in the community. I hope they take immediate action to address this issue and train their employees to treat every customer with the fairness and dignity...
Read moreThe store is very big and well stocked but there’s not a lot of customers (maybe because I went on a weekday evening?). I bought some meats, some veggies and fruits. So far the mangosteen are a big disappointment! $4,99/lbs and this is what my $12 got me.. all spoiled and moldy! 😡. They have only been opened for 2 weeks, this is NOT what fresh produce looks like!!
update: I went back next day to show them the pictures and the receipt and they refunded me for the spoiled mangosteen. At least they have good customer service! I will be giving them another chance. They do have a very wide selection of...
