Anka's Alterations came highly recommended to me, but I unfortunately did not have a great experience here and would cautiously advise others with simple dresses to seek a different seamstress.
My original wedding dress was a simple fit and flare v-neck strapless dress made of crepe (see stock photo). It had no beading or lace, so alterations needed to be perfect otherwise flaws would be noticeable. I have a small chest and needed the bust area taken in. After 4 fittings, my dress was deemed "ready to take home", which I felt pressured to do as the seamstress eagerly remarked that it "looked perfect!" when I tried it on. Upon taking it home, it was clear that the seams on one side were puckering and the bust was asymmetric. I brought the dress back for additional alterations which ultimately led to the bust looking even worse with BOTH edges newly scalloping, yet multiple employees saying that it "looked perfect!". At this point I was 6 weeks out from my wedding, with no trust after 6 fittings that Anka's would ever get it right. I took the dress home just to end the whole ordeal and bought a new dress off the rack. To top it off, alterations cost $950 and the bust was so poorly tailored that I would feel guilty trying to resell it. It'll likely end up in the trash.
I am only giving them additional stars due to the fact that the alterations to the waist and hips...
Read moreOverall, I had a really good experience ☺️ The woman who worked with me was very kind and my dress turned out exactly how I wanted. I needed the train cut off and wasn't a fan of the way my slit sat, but my dress fit me perfectly otherwise. She was very informative, letting me know that I may end up with a ripple in my skirt if I adjusted the slit (which I said I didn't mind) and warned me that if I get my dress dry cleaned beforehand (my dress was the floor model) to let them know I still had yet to get married, to ensure they wouldn't accidentally shrink it or something. She didn't try to talk me into anything or upsell me, provided helpful advice, and was able to make it into the dress of my dreams just in time for me to get married to my love 🥰 If I had to mention the few things that could've been better, my skirt did have some long strings hanging where it had been hemmed that needed to be trimmed, as well as a pin still attached. My few alterations were also more expensive than the dress itself, but I'll admit, I didn't get any other quotes - it was probably standard pricing (just shocked me a bit). Thank...
Read moreAnka was truly incredible. I was recommended to her from the bridal shop that I purchased my gown. Anka helped me feel immediately comfortable and supported. She went over costs with me before and was very fair in cost, especially for the quality. She was efficient, timely, creative with different options for alterations (I needed a bustle, the dress taken in, and support in the bust), and very flexible. As someone with a larger chest, I was nervous my dress wouldn't support me enough for my outdoor, activity heavy wedding. As I tried my dress on after the alterations, I knew I wouldn't have to worry. I was supported while also feeling extremely beautiful and not at all worried about slips. Anka went over every step of my bustle process and even offered for me to record it so my sisters could do the bustle without question. Anka was truly incredible and helped me to feel so supported and confident in my dress and made it fit me perfectly. I love supporting her small business and will definitely return back to her for all of my...
