I visited this Belks Tuesday March 18th, 2025 about 3pm and was looking at children's shoes on a clearance table. I looked over to my left close to the 5th Street entrance and seen a register with an older lady ( heavy set, ) leaning on a buggy like she was a shopper behind the counter. I said, oh I thought you worked here. I needed these shoes scanned for a price. She rudely said, I wouldn't be behind this register if I didn't work here! She informed me she had just put some things out. I said, well I thought the way you were leaning on the buggy you were SHOPPING! Then she scanned the shoes and said, " you don't have the Belks App on your phone? This aggravated me so much I refused to buy a thing! Dear God, don't ask for a price, hope you have a cell phone, a SMART phone, no old phone like some old people have, hope you have sense enough to go to your app store and how to download the app! If you have to do this to get a price hope you have the time to learn all this while the EMPLOYEE STANDS THERE LOOKING AT YOU .What happened to customer service? She was getting paid to STAND THERE! Well, maybe BELKS should fire all the register folks and do like Walmart so we can scan and check ourselves out! Pretty soon we will have ROBOTS doing things anyway and a lot of jobs will be gone! I had a business one time and if my employee's ever did this to a customer, they would be out the door! That is a small Belk's in Hartsville so it is not like they are booming...
Read moreI have been to the Belk in Hartsville recently, once about a week or so ago and then again today. The week before, the store was having a HUGE sale and even though they were short staffed, EVERYONE of their associates were right there willing to help anyone who needed help and all were cheerful. I never once heard anyone say "that's not my department". NOT ONCE!
Today, I had to return a couple of things and again, the employees were there and happy to help. I wish I would have gotten this one ladies name because she was EXCEPTIONAL! She had on an animal print vest and glasses. She was there to help the new employee who was doing returns, she was in the shoe department shortly after that helping customers. Then when we went to the cosmetic counter, she was there to help us too. She sold me a $75 perfume by Clinique.

This store is racist.I came here to have a receipt adjusted to get a lower price as the price went down and it's Belks policy to price adjust when the price is lower and the manger refused stating she need the merchandise in order to adjust the receipt (which s a lie) she was very rude and refused and walked away. I called and spoke with the store manger at the Florence location immediately after leaving and he stated that I didn't need the merchandise ut only the receipt and stated that the manger was suppose to adjust. She refused a valid adjustment request and pretended she wasn't the manger and stated the manger had to be there to approve but she is a THE store manger!!This isn't the first time I had issues at this store with this same racist manger. Something needs to be done about this store they are very discriminative and I will be taking...
