Roses has always been one of my favorite places to shop, especially for their seasonal deals and great prices. However, my recent visit to the Hartsville, SC location left me very disappointed.
I stopped by to pass some time before a 1:30 PM doctorâs appointment and noticed the roses on sale. After completing the rest of my shopping, I told the cashier, Justice, that I wanted to purchase two rose bushes from outside. She informed me I had to go out and bring them in myself. I noticed another cashier had a printed price list she used to assist her customers, but Justice did not offer the same courtesy.
There were two price points on the rose bushes â $19.99 and a clearly marked section for $7.99. The $7.99 roses were in rough shape, but Iâve purchased them in past years and successfully revived them, so I chose a few from that section.
At checkout, Justice rang them up at $9.99. I politely explained they were marked $7.99. Justice repeatedly insisted the price was $9.99 and seemed to brush off what I was saying. So, I went back outside, took a picture of the price sign, and returned. Justice also called Ms. Brown (who I believe is either the front-end supervisor or store manager) to verify the price.
Ms. Brown went out to check and came back stating, âThere are two prices,â but her tone gave the impression that she believed I had picked from the $19.99 section. Justice then asked, âWhy change the prices?â Thatâs when I showed her the photo I had just taken of the $7.99 sign from the section where I got the roses.
Even after showing clear proof, both Justice and Ms. Brown remained dismissive. Normally, a cashier will at least offer a âthank youâ or âhave a nice dayâânot Justice. She simply turned her back to me and began chatting with another cashier. Ms. Brown didnât acknowledge me at all after that and instead began discussing break schedules with the staff while I stood there.
What makes this more frustrating is that Iâm not alone. After reading other reviews, itâs clear that many customers have had similar experiencesâseeing lower prices advertised on the floor, only to be charged more at the register. There seems to be a consistent issue with how this store manages price changes and signage updates.
Corporate may need to step in and address these ongoing concerns with store management. Loyal customers should never feel dismissed or disrespectedâespecially when all weâre asking is to pay the clearly...
Read moreWent into this store for the first & last time over the weekend! All the white rocking chairs were put together with brackets underneath the arm of the chairs you could see the imperfections on them but each one had a 59.99 sticker on the legs of them I know what the sign said but I was going by the price on the legs! It wasnât a good experience at all! Of course they ended up charging the assembly price so I actually paid over 70 for a chair that had a 59.99 sticker on the leg ! Looking at the chair reminds me of those two older women especially one who made it her business to leave her register to come over to the register me & my husband were at to remind the lady checking us out to charge the assembly price after we gave her the sticker! I am not keeping the chair Iâm taking it back! If the sticker on the leg says a price thatâs the price we should have been charged all of the white rockers were assembled we didnât have a choice but to get one with imperfections which I should have told her to...
Read moreThe only thing that I don't like is when the store associates follow customers (myself included) around in the store. My gosh! If it's that serious to watch customers to see if they are going to steal then just hire a contracted security officer! The older African-American lady that has been there for years does a lot of the following around along with a middle aged African-American lady as well. It is so obvious...
