This happened about a month ago, but have been so busy I am just now getting around to the review.
I purchased a Nintendo switch from Game Exchange.
I got it home and used it for a little while to realize the joycons were broken on them. I take it back to Game Exhange and they replace them. No problem.
I get home again to find out that my switch will not seat itself in the dock. I take it back to game exchange a little frustrated because it's my second time having to go there and is costing gas at this point just to have to drive back and forth. They replaced my dock and I went home. I got home and realized the power adapter they gave me with the switch was not the original Nintendo one and sure enough, it did not work. So I had to go back for a 3rd time and have them replace something on an obviously nontested Nintendo switch.
Summary: bought a used switch that literally had every function of it broken except for the tablet itself....
Fast forward a couple weeks. I bought a retron 5 used console from them as a gift to my dad for fathers day. Thinking the switch was a fairly isolated incident, I didn't think much of it.
After driving 2 hours away from game exchange, I plugged in the console and it did not work in any fashion. I called back and once again, they had given me the wrong power adapter and their only solution was for me to drive back to Hattiesburg and get another one.
Summary: bought a used retron 5, and I received a power adapter that didn't come with it originally and did not work. Their only solution was to drive 2 hours all the way back.
Moral of the story: I will never buy any form of console again from game exchange, but they have a pretty good...
Read moreYesterday, June 17th, 2020, my husband and I who are visiting family stopped in to this location to purchase a PlayStation 4 console. The people working seemed very helpful, and assured me that they tested this console and everything with it was fine. I get the console home and it isn't working. Come to find out, upon further inspection, the system had it's hard drive replaced with one that is not compatible at all. The controller that came with the system was defective as well, exhibiting major joystick issues. We called and let them know what we found, and we were told no cash refunds only replacements. Okay, that's fine. I really just want it replaced. But I was told they would call around and try to find a system and call me back. Took my contact info and all. After waiting for hours with no call back, we called again. The woman working told us that our only option was store credit. Again. Great. Except they don't have a replacement console so I have no idea what I could use the store credit for. We explained that what we wanted was a replacement (as per their policy) or a cash refund if that request could not be met. The woman hung up on us. I have many years of customer service, including working for GameStop. I do not support the way they do things by any means but even they would have handled this better. I am honestly shocked at how disrespected we were for simply asking that they fulfill their policy agreement. I am currently waiting to hear back from their corporate office.
TL;DR they sold me a PS4 with a incompatible hard drive and a defective controller and now they won't replace it, one day after...
Read moreOne of the worst game stores you could possibly go to. I live out of state but travel through the area a couple of times a year. The first few times I went were so-so, but this last time was terrible. Tons of filler games, nothing really that good. Prices are getting higher on items you can get elsewhere for cheaper. But the thing that really upset me was the fact that they put the wrong disc in the case for the game I bought. I only realized this when I got home(which is 4 and a half hours from this store). No biggie I thought, I called and explained the situation and even said that I’d mail the game back if they would mail me the correct one. I even said I’d send it back for a refund on my card. I was told nothing was possible. The only way to rectify the situation was to drive 9 hours round trip to get store credit for something that was the store and employees fault. That sat on the other end of the line when I called acting like they didn’t even care. That is terrible business. I would avoid at all cost. Will be contacting corporate since I was finally able to...
