Del Sol Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Hattiesburg

I come to this restaurant at least once a month but my experience yesterday was the worst. 07/23/2025 was my daughter’s birthday and I chose for her to come here with her friends. Our waiter barely spoke English and only checked on us twice after being there 3 hours. Once we were getting ready to leave , my sister and I are standing at the tables talking and the kids stepped outside to do TikTok dances and the guys at the counter and our waiter who came from the other side of the restaurant ran out the door behind them, mind you these are KIDS, and claimed that they didn’t pay! 4 of the girls paid for their own ticket. 2 paid with tap at the front register. The other 2 girls with the cash tried to pay at front register as well but they told them they were only taking tap at the front so they had to pay cash with the waiter. 15 minutes go by and we are still waiting from the waiter to come to the table but he never did. So they left their cash in the black pay book on the table. Without coming to the table to check for the money while the adults were still inside. They ran out the restaurant behind the girls and accused 2 girls of not paying which was the cash payments on the table. I handed them one of the girls pay book at the front with her payment inside and they came BACK OUTSIDE claiming 1 payment was missing , which was the cash I gave them at the front! And they had the other cash payment in her book in their hand . Only 2 people paid cash and y’all have those 2 payments so what are you looking for!? This was sooooo embarrassing!! The waiter started getting rude because he can’t speak good English or count money !!! Then they say “oh we got it, sorry. Everything’s good,” once they realized everyone did pay! All this could have been avoided had the waiter been a better waiter and checked on his table before just assuming someone didn’t pay when the money was at the table the entire time! went to Del Sol Mexican Restaurant in Hattiesburg the one besides the mall on 98 tonight and while there not long after me and mom sat down and received our drinks and chips/salsa I fainted several times the first time (my mother hollered for help) and I was shaking real bad almost like I was having a seizure.There was a doctor (a cardiologist) and (a nurse) there that came straight over after hearing and seeing what was going on, we are so thankful and blessed that they were there they were such a BIG help. Anyway 911 was called and they took me by ambulance to the hospital But the reason for this post is like I said we had just sat down pretty much I had 1 sip of her Dr Pepper and about 3 chips ( mom also ) this happen as they were putting her on the stretcher a waiter brought our food on plates and ticket and ( not even in a box) knowing what was going on so the Doctor and myself said can you at least put it in a box none of us could believe how we were being treated and handed me the bill for 57.18. They took their time my mother had to hunt the waiter down just to pay my bill. I’m so sorry but I believe it’s sorry. I might be wrong but I don’t feel like I am at all and why should we have to pay that when we were leaving due to a medical emergency and never even touched our meal, or at very least they could’ve only charge us for the drinks chips and salsa!!! Oh and the manager did give us a 6.00 discount after my mother called and argued with him (the price of the cheese dip we ordered and never ate). We went to Del Sol with two of our friends plus went to celebrate a friend of our’s birthday. We were told to sit at a table that was dirty close by them by a young woman and she explained they would clean the table for us. Two servers came up and were very rude and said they refused to clean our table for us and were very rude to my friends from Costa Rica and Guatemala. This was the last chance we were gonna eat with them before they went back to their country and this short man spoke to my friend in Spanish which she speaks, where he tried to start a fight with her because she didn’t understand him. He hurt her feelings and made her cry. There was much confusion and no one would listen to us when he explained we were told to sit there. I understand when people are confused by a situation tensions run high, but we were told to sit there and when he asked why we no longer could we were treated with massive disrespect and ignored. We left and when we did so did the rest of our group. Very poor service, very disappointed in the attitude by the staff members and even the manager for blaming us for a decision another worker made. I called the manager and explained the situation and he made the excuse the worker who was rude only “cleaned the tables” but that doesn’t change how he spoke to my friend when she was just confused by what was happening and even apologized.
