As heartbroken our family was to lose our dad/grandpa, Ballard Family Mortuary - HILO treated us like family and held our hand once we were able to connect with them and let them know our situation. My dad passed in Kona and his memorial service and burial was planned to be on the island of Lana’i, where he lived the majority of his life. Joey (owner), his wife and son made sure that we were comforted, and at the same time confident that my father would receive the honor and respect his family desired to give him. While grieving, I personally had many questions throughout the process and tried to communicate the family’s vision to Joey, so that my dad would receive the best “celebration of life” he deserved. Joey and his team did not disappoint! From the beautiful program, to the special prayer and thank you cards, and from his heart-warming obituary to seeing him lay to rest in his stunning silver casket, the entire Camero Ohana would say that my dad would’ve been pleased and proud of what we all accomplished. Mahalo Nui Loa Joey, family and friends from Ballard Family Mortuary-Hilo! We couldn’t have done it without your patience, care, concern and ALOHA... People from the Lanai community and family felt that my father’s memorial was very special and loved being a part of it. Thank you again for your support... We will never forget.
Sincerely, Amalia (Aimee) (Daughter of the late Fred...
Read moreWe lost my dad on July 9th. He passed away at home while taking a nap. The staff that arrived at his home were very professional and gave us all the time we need to say good by. That was so important to our family. It did not just stop there. I contacted Joey the next morning and he directed me to the Kona office since the service would be held in Kona. We met with Connie and from the start she was very professional and certainly well experienced. She was able to answer our questions and handle our request even though at this time in our lives we could hardly function. Connie went beyond her duties and was the last person to leave the funeral at the VA Cemetery. We had family arriving from the mainland and wanted to able to see my dad one last time. I contacted Joey on his cell and he came in on his day off to prepare my dad for a short visit. The staff that day at the Hilo location were nothing but professional. The moment we walked in and met with Joey and his wife, it gave us the feeling we were around family. That is a feeling that can not be duplicated. In a time like this it adds another level of comfort. Joey presented my dad to us for the visit with the family and told us to take as much time as we needed. The final issue that all of us have to address is the cost for these services. I am amazed at how their prices are very reasonable. Thank You for...
Read moreI recently had to plan my brother's service and was so frustrated with all the funeral homes I had called. By the time I contacted Ballard I had given up hope and felt like there were all heartless companies just trying to make money instead of being compassionate to my loss. Joey could tell I was upset and from the beginning offered any type of help he could to make this an easier process. All the other mortuaries were so cold in allowing us more than one viewing before having a service but Joey and Nazareth went above and beyond in treating us as part of the Ohana and making us feel a little more comfort thru a horrible situation. I recommend them and share the story with so many I encounter and hope you find this helpful if you ever have to plan such services.
They also had some very beautiful cremation pendants as we had family travel from all over to be here and were able to send them home with a piece of my brother...
