Beware small servings and absurdly small amount of wasabi (see photo). With 4 rolls and 3 orders of nigiri they gave me 3 of these containers
when I questioned if this is their normal serving size and suggested it would be a problem if I or another customer got home and had 3 bites of food and then ran out of wasabi ruining the whole meal, they looked at my like I was crazy. In any case, a rainbow roll from them is about half to 60% of the size of a normal rainbow roll and with very thinly sliced fish, so net net you’re paying full price for about 20%-30% of the fish and 50%-60% of the rice you would expect elsewhere. The quality and flavor is OK but the serving size and especially the ridiculous amount of wasabi included before they want you to pay more for “extra” are good to be aware of. In the end they gave me some free wasabi which is maybe almost the same amount I would expect from a normal sushi place, but good to be aware of the penny pinching at this place. And if you order you may want to get some “extra” wasabi.

My meal at Ebisuya was fantastic. The prices were very good for the portions which were served. We arrived at the very beginning of the dinner hour, when there was only one other table seated. We did discover, like other reviewers mentioned - the pace of service is extremely slow. We came prepared for it and were still surprised at how long "long" could be - close to 40 minutes for our relatively small order when the restaurant was empty. I would recommend coming in just a little bit before you expect to be hungry. The fish was extremely fresh and prepared just right - the flavors shone through without much dressing up. #foodie #sushi #letsguide

Seriously, I don't know how this place is as highly rated as it is. Look at this picture. Small pieces of fish. But that's not really the problem. Even if they were larger, they were mediocre at best. The uni was the best of the three. The salmon and tuna were so-so. And they had no hamachi, so I don't know how that would have been. With all of the other nearby choices, you might be better off choosing one of them. I know next time I will.

This restaurant has terrible customer service and sushi quality was horrible! æ—„æœŹäșșæ—…èĄŒè€…ăźæ–čăŻç”¶ćŻŸèĄŒă‹ăȘă„ă»ă†ăŒè‰Żă„ă§ă™ă‚ˆïŒă€‚Don't go to this restaurant. My wife and I went to this place in April 2018. I still remember our horrible experience, so I am writing this review for people who are wondering if they should go to this restaurant or not. My wife is American and I am Japanese, I imagine we looked like tourists when we went to this restaurant. While we waited for our food, the server moved us to a new table TWICE to accommodate new customers coming into the restaurant. It took more than 30 mins for our food to come to our table. There was no apology for our inconvenience or long wait time. It looked like this restaurant delivered foods to their existing customers earlier than us since the clerks kept talking to the existing customers and didn't talk to us at all while waiting. We had no choice but to feel that the restaurant ignored us intentionally. I grew up in Japan and I know how real sushi tastes like. Sushi at this place had a gross low quality...

We ate here on Easter. I was pleasantly surprised it was open! There weren't a lot of people there because of the holiday I expect. You could tell by the worn in feeling of the place that it's really popular. The atmosphere was very casual, very old Hawaii-Japanese classic feeling. The service was very good. The Japanese woman who served us gave me the impression she might be the proprietor of the restaurant. She was extremely kind and attentive. I really appreciated her! They close earlier than one might expect but that wasn't a problem for us. The sushi was excellent. The fish incredibly fresh as one would expect in Hawaii. The place had a traditional been-around-forever feeling which I think is accurate. It really has been around for a long time. I think if you are in Hilo and in the mood for very authentic, classic sushi, this place is where you should go. It's not fancy or glitzy. It's simple and perfect. You order and they bring you delicious fish in a very comfortable setting! What more could...
