Sharks Cove on Oahu's North Shore is an absolute gem for snorkelers and marine life enthusiasts. The cove is known for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant underwater ecosystem, making it a perfect spot for both beginners and experienced snorkelers. The natural lava rock formations create a series of tide pools on the southern side, providing a safe and shallow area to explore. On the northern side, the cove opens up to deeper waters, where you can find a diverse array of tropical fish, sea turtles, and even the occasional moray eel. However, visiting Sharks Cove does come with some considerations. Parking is free but very limited, so arriving early (around 8 to 9 AM) is highly recommended to secure a spot. The cove can get crowded, especially during the summer months when the surf is calm, and the snorkeling conditions are ideal. In the winter, the waves can be quite rough, making snorkeling dangerous, so it's best to avoid the water during this season. Facilities at Sharks Cove are basic, with public bathrooms and outdoor showers available, but there are no lifeguards on duty, so swim at your own risk. Be mindful of your belongings, as the area is known for occasional thefts, and avoid leaving valuables in your car. Overall, Sharks Cove is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the beauty of Oahu's marine life. Just be sure to plan ahead and take necessary precautions to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit.

Fun!! Id recommend water shoes because the rocks are super sharp! I nicked my knee and it went deep! LOL but Iโ€™m fine. Shallow water. LOTS of fish and careful for sea urchins with in rocks. I went into November and it was good! The waves would crash into the rocks and sent a fast current but mostly all areas you can just stand up in! There are spots you can swim down which is pretty cool too you can tell the fish are accustom to people they get very close to you! Showers and bathrooms also! Plus a bunch of food trucks right across the street plus places you can rent snorkeling equipment. (TIP: If you wash you mask with baby wash it help from it getting foggy! Just rise off the stuff with water bottle or at shower station just not in the water!)

This was a favorite of all our group! The sand was so soft and clean. Lots of mature trees and shade up near the grassy area that overlook the cove. Dot let the rocky beach fool you-there is a pathway down into the cove that is doable even for kids. The rocks protect the cove from waves which was perfect for us as a family with small children. We went on a Friday and were able to find parking after cruising around for a bit.

The cove is super shallow so my kids felt comfortable snorkeling. (10 & 5). My 22 month old even ventured out and could see fish right from the shore. Even the waves on the most mild beaches make him nervous to lose his balance but this water was so calm! The water temperature was comfortable even in February!

The views were amazing. It was moderated crowded but visibility was good. We loved the fish we saw, including some eels, and the waves crashing over the distant rocks was so awesome. My oldest daughter went out pretty far and did cut her foot on a sharp rock but she said it was worth it, ha! I would...

On the North Shore of Oahi. Basically across from the FoodLand! Awesome snorkeling, clear water calm during the summer months. Rocky to get in but just take ur time and everything will be good. Tons of fish, protected area from waves. Saw probably 200 fish in a school so amazing. U can normally find parking up and down the street. Plus $10 lunches or dinners at all the food trucks just to the right of FoodLand. Do urself a fav and plan on like a couple hour snorkel here the go just north like 200 yards to 3 Tables Beach. Which is just as good snorkeling but there's an awesome beach with trees for shade. Spend the whole day between these two amazing places. FoodLand is full service, beer, liquor, deli, full grocery store, cheap snorkeling...
