Saucon True Value — Local services in Hellertown

I ordinarily go out of my way to support local businesses, but after today's experience, I'll only go here in an absolute emergency. Two of the items I bought in December have stopped working, and when I went to buy replacements, I was told they were a seasonal item, and their inventory of these was in storage in the back of the store. They were unwilling to retrieve them as they would have to dig through three pallets of stuff. Only when pressed did they offer to order them from the local warehouse. The local warehouse was out of stock, so they said I'd have to pay shipping from a regional warehouse if I wanted to replace the defective merchandise they sold. So - for the owners in case you read this review: I'm a local homeowner that spent money monthly in your store. Perhaps the $20 sale today wouldn't have been worth your time to look for the items. But I was spending money in your store on a monthly basis for a variety of home stuff. You've now lost my business. Label your boxes and pallets when you store stuff after season. It should have taken you 5 minutes to find what I was looking for. The only advantage you have over the Amazon and the big box stores is to provide outstanding customer service. I am not related to, nor have any business affiliation with, this store. * I can't say enough about the outstanding customer service I receive at Saucon True Value hardware store in Hellertown. Every time I have gone in with a problem, the staff has helped me find the easiest, most effective solution. Perhaps even more important, they spend the time to explain how it should be done. 2 of the staff in particular - Rod and Ken - have helped me tremendously - enough that I was able to do some repairs myself and thus save labor $. I just finished installing a bracket in a corner that 3 different handymen had told me would require extra bracing, or installed at a different angle, or some other more complicated solution. Turned out that I just needed a longer screw in order to catch the wood in the corner. If they don't have what I need, they will direct me to one of the larger hardware stores. I find their total attention to customer satisfaction refreshing. I love my Saucon True Value store. Always friendly, always helpful - and if they don't have in stock what you need, they will check to see if they can get it from the distribution center. I have no how many times this store has saved me a trip to Allentown or Quakertown. They have well seasoned and experienced staff, many of them were contractors, and they are always willing to go the extra mile to make your home improvement project...
