I married my husband, Brandon, in late October this past year and we hired Dolce Patisserie to bake our 3-tier Wedding Cake and single-tier Groom’s Cake. Brandon and I are from Georgia and planned our wedding to take place in my great aunt’s backyard, with a reception at the Wilbur Mansion.
The first time I tasted Alan Pitotti’s signature cake (chocolate cake with a vanilla creme brûlée layer, fresh raspberries, and chocolate mousse) was over 10 years ago for my great aunt’s 90th birthday– and I was awestruck. I’m not usually a big fan of cake, but the cake was perfectly moist and bouncy and the flavor was well-balanced with the tart raspberries to contrast the other creamy layers. When we decided to have our wedding in Allentown Pennsylvania, Dolce Patisserie was the first vendor I was sure of.
Alan was amazing to work with. He took all my ideas (I wanted fall flavors to pair with the autumnal theme of my wedding) into consideration and was incredibly kind and professional when we met with him for our tasting. For our 3-tiered wedding cake, we chose the signature cake with an added crunchy hazelnut layer; for the Groom’s cake (which was Stardew Valley themed), we had a spice and vanilla cake, paired with a white chocolate mousse and chai tea creme brûlée layer. The cakes were INCREDIBLE. Hands down one of the best features of my wedding day. I am so grateful for Alan’s patience and help bringing our visions to life– I highly recommend this patisserie...
Read moreLet me start off by saying I had such high hopes for this place due to the reviews...however, I went on a Wednesday mid-morning and the cases were empty of any desserts or cakes. I asked when the case would be stocked and I was told Thursdays-Saturdays only...The older woman working the counter seemed annoyed with me already. I asked if they had bread...no they don't make bread. I asked if they had croissants or muffins..no, the croissants were sold out, she pointed to the tiniest basket that I suppose, housed the croissants showing it was empty...yes, I can imagine they sold out, how many did you make 6? Ok fine. I said I would return later in the week to view the pastries. A few weeks later my wife went and purchased a small assortment of pastries. She said the selection was minute. She did however seem excited as they looked nice to serve to our dinner guests. However, we were extremely disappointed as not only were they not as tasty as they looked, but 2 of the 4 pastries had hair in them, sealed in with glaze. Needless to say, I...
Read moreBy far the best patisserie shop in the entire Lehigh Valley (this is coming from a foodie who has lived in both New York and Europe). Everything Alan makes is both decadent and delicious. He is also a genuine and kind person, always remembering our names and asking about the family. Truly a 5 star place in every respect. If it is chocolate you seek, look no further. I often spend more than I think I will on a few chocolates, but they are worth every penny! I highly recommend the signature chocolate cake, as well as the macarons. Vanilla and Lemon are my favorite of the normal macaron rotations, but if you love lavender as much as I do, go ahead and special order some of those yummies! Alan is great to work with for special orders because he asks a lot of questions to understand exactly what you want. He communicates clearly and our orders are always ready on time. We'll keep coming back, and we hope you do too. Thanks Alan for being awesome and for always making lavender...
