I used to frequent the Vault a couple of times a month several years ago. Being a Warhammer Fantasy enthusiast, it was one of the few places east of Pittsburgh to actually go into a brick and mortar store and browse a very updated and large selection of Games Workshop merchandise. The games seems to be in decline in the area recently, and my visits are becoming few and far between. If you're into CCG's (Magic in particular), I'd highly recommend the Vault as a great environment to go and meet fellow players. I've never been a card player, so I don't know how "beginner friendly" it may or may not be, but every time I've been in there the past couple of years its been crammed with 20+ people of various ages playing Magic the Gathering. This is, in fact, my primary reason I simply don't go there much these days. You go in and have to squeeze behind people in chairs and get glared at simply for trying to browse and support a local business. Lets face it, why go and try to shop somewhere when you feel like you're interrupting everyone with your presence? If you can go there in the afternoon before the gamers, its got a nice selection of comics both new and back issues, a dwindling selection of Warhammer and Warhammer 40K stuff, and of course, tons of...
Read moreI’ve been to many local card shops and this one is by far the worst. Terrible experience selling my cards, they told me they only take 50% of market for my Pokemon cards. The lady working had a terrible attitude, especially when I asked how they priced their cards. I collect older cards and they had some wayyy overpriced! I was talking to some people I met there and felt uncomfortable in the environment, as the workers were making some remarks about the cards I was selling. And just a little red flag is they are selling Japanese booster packs and boxes but refused to buy any of my high ticket japanese cards. Overall bad experience and it’s not the first time i’ve experienced this. I tried to give the Vault a second chance but it was a let down. I know realistically they don’t have to buy my cards- but even with trades and the ones that they had for sale… absolutely...
Read moreI came in to do a Friday night magic but there were other tournaments and games going on. I browsed the store while waiting but eventually left, not seeing the interest in an 8man pod growing. The guys in the store were very tentative towards customers and people playing the games.
The store was organized very well with plenty of variety towards different hobbies and products, a huge selection of card sleeves and dice sets.
Before I left a gentleman stopped me and both thanked me for coming out and apologized for the lack of interest but said it would be better going forward due to the tournaments going on. He helped me purchase a box of dragon shield sleeves and gave me a couple promo 3 card boosters for hanging around incase a game started up.
All in all this is a nice cozy shop, 100%...
