We are intermittent movie-goers and were so disappointed with our experience today, it will be tough to justify going back. Woefully understaffed (blame it on whatever...government regulations, lazy teens who don't want to work or corporate greed that underpays for the jobs..) . The lobby was dirty, really dirty, and while my wife waited in line for our tickets (a 20 minute wait at the concession stand instead of a ticket booth) I watched no less than four people walk in and appear to walk right into movies without tickets.
The staff could have not cared any less! As there were NO ushers anywhere, nor anyone taking or checking tickets, it was easy to just stroll past the huge line and help themselves to a free flick, or two. Judging from the fact that there seemed to be more people in the (very small) auditorium for the Lion King screening than there were seats, I'd say free-movie attendance at this theater is common and a well known open secret.
The screen was small, disappointing, really. Going to the movies is supposed to be an experience. Everything about this experience was disappointing. You probably have a huge TV and great sound system at home. Save some money and a ton of frustration and watch your movies there in the future.
The biggest failure of our experience today? No one seems to care. About anything. The people doing the concession stand looked morose and unfriendly. The messy beverage area and lobby were an embarrassment to the company. The harried manager clearly had given up. And the company, AMC, does not care about our experience because they would staff properly if they did. It's a sad sign of our times, but, that's the worst of it all: they just don't care. I bet Disney would care about people skimming their movies for free, though. Someone needs to pay attention to this theater. It was never like this when Carmike...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI moved away from the Greensburg area a number of years ago, but was in the area and wanted to see a movie so I went to the AMC Classic Westmoreland 14 on December 16, 2022.
The first thing I noticed is that the box office is no longer being used to sell tickets. One must purchase tickets at the concession stand. This is unfortunate because you could be standing in line for a while waiting for someone to purchase concessions when all one needs is a movie ticket. I will give the theater a mulligan on this one since Senile Biden's economy is such that employees are hard to find.
The second thing I noticed is the condition of the theater. It's a bit run down and could use a good freshening up. The seats are a bit outdated now that most modern theaters have installed recliners. The other issue was the picture quality of the movie was very dark and this is due to the projector in need of replacement. Also, not all the lights were dimmed as they should have. Some were left on during the screening of the film, which was bit distracting.
For $8.49, this theater is less expensive than most theaters in the Pittsburgh area, however, it saddens me to see that this theater hasn't been maintained. When it opened in 1999, it was a premium theater and I saw many movies there.
Hopefully, this theater will get a little TLC especially given the fact that the cinephiles in the Greensburg area deserve better. I believe that's the only theater...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStaff are friendly ( Iām still trying to get Joe to smile, though š). The popcorn is tasty and thereās a butter station so put on all you want. We have bought buckets for popcorn every year since they came out. Around $25.00 to buy and refills are free after you pay around $5.59 to fill it. ( Holds more than a large popcorn) We always have the previous years bucket and they will fill that one right away if you ask so you donāt have to disrupt your movie for more. The seats are comfy. The bathrooms are clean unless you get one or more inconsiderate customers trashing it. You canāt expect the staff to monitor the bathrooms constantly. They solved the problem of the paper towels getting stuck. I recommend if you go to the movies at an AMC often ( we go almost every week) that you get the Stubs Premiere membership. Itās about $15-20 a year and you get points for money to spend on movie or concessions, free upgrades in sizes ( small- large) for popcorn and drinks, and free ordering tickets online. Movie tickets are a bit expensive but cheaper than other places that have reclining and / or space-age seating and an interior that resembles a carnival ( thinking Waterfront AMC) So if you want a really decent movie experience go the AMC 15 in Greensburg, do some shopping before or after in the Mall, get a Stubs Premiere card, an annual bucket for popcorn and give...
