Time 6:30 pm April 23rd 2021- Today I had family in town and in an effort to purchase affordable groceries, my sister and I went to Fresco Y Mas in Flamingo Plaza (previously Winn Dixie and I know this because we’ve been coming here for my 31 years of life). We were able to find all the items on our list, even the Loreal hair dye my mother had given me a manufacturers coupon to purchase (L’Oréal Excellence in light as brown qty 2). At the register, the coupon was coming up as invalid so I pulled the boxes out to confirm showing the cashier who called a floor manager that showed up and searched (didn’t get his name but he had a lovely calm disposition to him) BUT THEN this other manager who came from somewhere on the other side of the store rudely snatches the coupon from the gentleman and tells me “no this coupon isn’t coming up” and I insist that it is for the same product she proceeds to say “I will tell you right now why this isn’t working- this is for the L’Oréal preference, don’t you see” and I said “my love, it has a comma right after and says excellence” she proceeds to say “MY LOVE but it’s not coming up and I can’t put it in manually” - being mocked I say “that’s fine I’ll leave them and if I could, I would leave all the groceries” I proceed to ask for her name which she shows me on her name tag with an attitude yelling her last name is Gonzalez. I read the name tag “Mary, CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER” and I am completely in awe at the lack of professionalism and customer support I was just provided. My sister exclaims we are just going to leave the $107 worth of groceries we were attempting to purchase and we walk out. I don’t believe I have ever felt the need write a review for ANY poor customer service I received but I felt the need to because 1. I will no longer be going to Fresco Y Mas and I’m sure they would like to know why they have lost a lifelong customer 2. As someone who works in customer service myself, I can tell you with complete transparency being led or managed by someone with Mary Gonzalez’s lack of professionalism can decrease motivation and like a bad weed it can spread to other associates. She is in dire need of training and I truly hope upper management can take this as constructive criticism for the sake of the business and its clientele. Thank you for your attention, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions...
Read moreFresco Y Más (Fresh and More) is a Hispanic grocery store that has replaced some Winn Dixie stores. Fresco y Más began in 2016, when executives from Southeastern Grocers, the ownership group of Winn-Dixie, decided to test market a Hispanic big-box grocery store in a former struggling Winn Dixie. By appealing to the large the Hispanic population in Hialeah, they were able to turn things around. The first location of Fresco Y Más opened here in Hialeah in the historic Flamingo Plaza. There are now more than 20 Fresco Y Mas stores clustered around Miami, Tampa, and Orlando.
The color scheme of the store is a bright yellow with the department names bilingual. The store smelled delicious when I walked in as the hot prepared foods wafted through the store from the Cocina . Everything looked sparkling clean. In the aisles expect to find black beans, olive oil, mojo marinades, rice, Cuban coffee, and plantain chips. There is a large produce department with fresh fruit and \vegetables, meat and seafood department, bakery with fresh Cuban bread and fruit cakes and pies, and a Dollar Zone where customers can get more than 600 everyday essentials for $1.
This store has been very successful for the company and it allowed them to launch all of the other locations. This is the first time I have visited a Fresco Y Más and I loved exploring the store. One thing to mention is the parking lot is an absolute nightmare here. I look forward to checking out the Broward...
