I'm unemployed and struggling to find a job, pay bills, and afford food and other necessities. Someone mentioned I should visit this establishment. Due to my anxiety and being unfamiliar with the procedure at a place like this I sent a message using the contact form on their website. I did not receive a response, so I wrote again in case I had misspelled my e-mail address. I still did not get a response, but I gathered the courage to attempt checking out the place in person.
A worker was nice enough to talk with me for a minute and told me it was okay to eat a meal. I was grateful to have a proper meal. The nice worker told me to come back in the morning to speak with someone about help getting a job.
It seems that guests are not permitted to take food to-go. Someone stepped in front of me blocking my path, gestured at the slice of cake and unused portion from my cutlery packet that I was going to take with me, and said, "Oh, no. We can’t have that." I have no idea if the person was a worker or a guest, but apparently I had made a mistake. I had seen another guest with a napkin over a slice of cake, which I had assumed he was taking with him, so I had thought it was okay. I didn’t want to eat too much at once because that would just cause me to be even hungrier later. I thought the cake would be nice for dinner or the next day.
I probably won't ask them for help finding a job. And I certainly won’t eat there again. I don’t want to risk making another mistake and have someone treat me like that again. I would...
Read moreI go there almost everyday I love the staff there 😊🙏. They are so nice to me!! I am disabled and they help me all the time! I love how clean the facility is! I am a neat person. lol. I love the management there! The food they give me is great! It helps me and my husband and my bored collie out so much ❤️. I can’t get food stamps at the moment. They said my husband works over the limit by $200! But they don’t count what expenses we have at all! It’s not fair! I’m sorry. But these people are extremely understanding of my situation and help us out as much as they can. My husband is blind in 1 eye already and has 4 to 6 months of eyesight left. So I just pray I can get some help. No one want to help us from Social Services at the moment very much, because he is still working. But I don’t know for how long. I’m scared!! God Bless these good people here they are praying for us. 😊🙏. God Bless you all who read this. I’m sorry for telling you my...
Read moreI donate to this charity because I know they give it all to the people in need. I have donated towels etc. and personal care items because they let people take a free shower. They give out tents, sleeping bags, clothes and other essentials that the homeless need. Not only do they offer daily meals but also get our groceries when needed. I worked at one of the largest ministries to help the needy/homeless in Hickory and I saw some of the well off employees take the best clothes, donated food etc. for themselves even though they did not need it and were being paid to work there!!! Check out your charities before donating. I have and this is the most honest one in Hickory. Your money and donations really go to...
