Highland Montgomery Apartments — Local services in Highland Park

I recently moved out after being a resident for a year. I moved to be closer to work and for a bigger space. However my time at Highland Montgomery was excellent! The grounds are very well kept, the maintenance team is always working on them to make them look their best. They recently just updated the grounds in front of the building I lived in. Snow removal in the winter is very efficient. My apartment was very comfortable and spacious. I never had any issues while I was a resident. Whenever I did have a minor fix the maintenance team was quick to take care of it, within the hour. Usually even much quicker than that. The apartment building itself was always clean. I would frequently see the cleaning staff sweeping, mopping and taking care of the hallways. The property itself is very quiet. I didn’t have many interactions with my neighbors but when I did they were always friendly. I also did not have many interactions with the current property manager Lora (I moved in before she had started) but while I was moving out she was very responsive, helpful and kind with making my move very easy. I would recommend these apartments to any and everybody.

Side note - I saw a few reviews of people complaining about roaches. I can only speak for myself and say I never had any issues with roaches in my apartment or building. The laundry room is located in the basement of the building, and I on one or two occasions in my year of being a tenant maybe saw one but it’s a basement, be realistic it’s bound to happen. On a brighter note, they are currently updating all of the laundry rooms in the buildings so if you are a prospective tenant that’s something to look...

I have been very happy living here at the Highland Montgomery Apartments for the past 6 years. It's a nice quiet neighborhood with ample parking, but still just a stone's throw away from the all the hustle and bustle of the small city next door - New Brunswick, which is also home to Rutgers' flagship campus. I very much appreciate the walkability of the area of Highland Montgomery - lots of great restaurants, small shops and even a supermarket all within walking distance. You can also walk to New Brunswick if you want a wider array of restaurants and bars to choose from. New Brunswick also has a train station which makes it very convenient for folks to get to NYC or Philly and all points in between.

The property itself is well maintained. One of the best parts of living in Highland Montgomery has been the responsiveness of their staff. Lora at the Leasing Office is very prompt and responsive to all resident requests. And their onsite facilities maintenance team is second to none - usually getting most repair requests done within the course of 1 business day! No place is of course perfect but the ease of working with Lora and the rest of the staff here at Highland Montgomery has made living here very comfortable. Heat and water are included in the rent. And the heat during the winter is VERY ample! The $50 rent increase annually can be a little steep, especially during this pandemic-induced recession.
