Nan's on Third — Local services in Hillsboro

I love shopping local and buying preloved items. While I have shopped her many times, it's hard to keep coming back. The location is conveniently close but the hours and inventory are really difficult to justify my time.

Hours are very short and really only work for me Saturdays 10-5 since they close most weekdays at 5. They aren't open Sundays either so it's very hard to make it to get there before close most days. Seems like they cater to the older crowd who have time 10-5 to shop during regular work times.

Inventory both as a shopper and a consignor, seems really difficult. I have tried off and on for a year to consign items here and have not been successful to date. MANY other businesses have continual acceptance of items, and this place does not. I often find myself driving to Beaverton, Portland, and Sherwood (RIP FunkyMonkey) to consign items. Sometimes I even give away clothes on my buy nothing group. These are Sorel, Columbia, Madewell, so on too. I have seen costco and other random brands sit there for weeks unsold.

I think there needs to be some more changes to keep this store thriving in the long run. Maybe consign more known labels, post on social media, appeal to younger crowds, different hours maybe 1-2x a month. I really want to support this business but they make it...

Nan's is a little gem in Hillsboro. The clothing is great for women who don't depend on fast fashion. The looks hold up for the long term and have the quality to span seasons. The handbags are usually luscious. There is a wide range of sizes, colors and textures, all high quality and in good repair.
