I used to go here frequently for gel manicures and pedicures. The last time I went, I was getting a gel pedicure and they put acetone with foil on my gel manicure for almost an hour and didn’t take it off. It was burning so bad, I opened up the tin foil on my fingers so the burning would stop and my fingers could breathe. When my gel pedicure was done and it was time for my gel manicure, my nail technician was mad that I opened up the acetone foils and kept saying how now my nails are hard and the leftover polish is dry and won’t come off all throughout my service. It ended up coming off. Acetone should not be left on gel nails for more than 10 minutes. In the past, they had someone take the gel off after acetone while I got a pedicure. Shining Nails is awesome! I decided to try them out for the first time last month because my (formerly) regular salon was doing a mediocre job, and they didn't offer powder dip manis or gel pedis, which are pretty standard nowadays. I'm so glad I switched to Shining Nails. I've gone there twice now, both times with Alicia. She is SO thorough. Both times I got a spa pedi. My first visit I got a powder dip mani, and my most recent visit I decided to try Après Gel X, which I've never seen offered at a Hoboken salon. Shining nails is too good to share. It's small, everyone's pleasant and the music both days was just right making for a peaceful time there. The place was packed when I arrived and asked for an appointment so I only got a pedicure& came back the next day for a manicure. Both services were excellent, & that was two different women taking care of my nails. The aromas of the scrubs & lotions were nice& natural.
