Lived here over a decade by this point!
Positives: well-run building with frequent updates and accessible/responsive management valets downstairs doubles as someone on the premises to keep an eye out on things, which heightens security even when front desk is empty at night convenient shuttle service to train station easy driving access to highway (first one into town, first one out of town) 20 minute walking distance to all essential services: pharmacy, hospital, dentist, grocery, deli, liquor store, four supermarkets, bakery, garden supplies, Home Depot, Best Buy, parks, and many restaurants very convenient laundry room on every floor, with 14 sets of machines in the building so there's backups on backups if the ones on your floor break south-facing balconies if you want to garden or grow houseplants, with excellent year-round sunlight on units facing the tracks. convenient bike path that's a straight shot to the train station. interior garage with a valet means you can easily load and unload groceries, furniture, and other items without having to deal with doing it on the street. basic gym on 2nd floor with much-appreciated public restroom (useful as a backup if something in your own bathroom breaks, or you have a big bathroom renovation but don't want to move out temporarily). walls are decently thick: rarely hear neighbors unless there's remodeling (hammering) going on, remodeling is relegated to middle of the days on weekdays right next to fire station so any fire alarms that go off get responded to immediately and instantly
Negatives: a little far from PATH, a decent amount of walking for when there's bad weather, like a thunderstorm. if your windows face the tracks, expect lots of noise from both train and honking from traffic road-ragers. Offset slightly by very thick sound-cutting windows, but you will still hear noises at nearly all hours. Think twice if you are a light sleeper. old building so it relies on in-unit water boilers. These things only hold so much hot water, so you risk running out of hot water if you're using a ton, like filling a whole bath tub. No issue ever running out for showers, though. car gets dirtier faster than normal when sitting in the interior garage
None of these negatives are a big deal to me, so 5 stars, still. But I thought they were worth mentioning for anyone that might find them...
Read moreLiving in the building for about 5 years. Enjoy my stay in this building a lot. The recent one star review seems to be unfair. There are maybe two water shut-downs for ~2-3 hours like from 10:30 am - 1:00 pm for some plumber check and repair. However, that's usually because some unit owners need to either replace a water heater or faucet with their interval vault broken. Given that there are more than 100 units in the building and each unit have 4 vaults, it is actually a very reasonable frequency to expect twice a year. The water shutdowns doesn't affect our life too much. For building management, the manager is actually doing a pretty nice job to manage all the issue at the building. There are 24 hr CCTV at the front door and back door and the valet parking man is active monitoring the camera at all times. The back door of the valet will be totally closed after 11:00 pm. The management also provided nice decoration to the common places (see my attached photos) at holiday season. Yes, I agree it is not the same level of "luxury" that you will find along the river side. But it is a nice and cozy home for most of residents in the building. The building almost offer everything that you need for a comfortable home: 5 minutes walk to grocery store - ACME, there are shoprite and trader joes nearby as well. Southwest street is just 1 block aways from the building entrance and I see kid doing mini ski at there. Path is 10 minutes walk but the building has a dedicate shuttle that will travel between the station and the building during rush hour (and there is app to track). Gym is in the building and parking is included the...
Read moreThere’s a disparity between recent reviews and much older ones. The recent reviews are an accurate reflection of where the building stands. ( red flag number 1) First and most importantly, management is no good. We all know the importance of property management and how this can make or break the experience of owners/renters. Unfortunately, along with the other reviews, I agree management is horrible; for a plethora of reasons. Secondly, the building is under constant repairs due to decaying infrastructure. It seems like the building does quick fixes to “remedy” issues but no real solution is ever met. The elevators are broken down constantly. The building is outdated (decor and amenities) and essentially cannot compete with other true luxury buildings which offer updated and amenities for equal or lower prices. Also, the building tends to get homeless folks to seek shelter in its lobby. It can be a safety issue at some point and I was often encountered with this in the morning hours before heading out to work. Red flag number two, the valet staff is inconsistent with is regards to parking and guests which is under the direction of the property manager. The company is run by an individual who was once prosecuted for stealing funds from a recreational center and stealing funds as a police officer. I can’t imagine how this is okay but it surely reflects and adds to the whole shadiness of the building.
I would not recommend this building at all, continue to shop around regardless if you intend to be a...
