I almost had a terrible experience at this hotel. But the front desk agent -Fatou was her name- most certainly turned it around. My decision to stay here was purely based on parking being available. It did cost money, but that’s been the norm on this East Coast trip. We’d spent three nights in Manhattan, two nights in DC, and a night in Buffalo. We just wanted to be close to the airport for our flight that takes off back to Washington state tomorrow. I checked in, paid for the room and was asked to check in our vehicle for parking. I went out to the valet desk and he regretfully informed me that parking was full. Understanding the cancellation charges being a the price of the reservation, I was upset that we would, in fact, have to cancel. I wasn’t comfortable with the potential of street parking overnight since I wasn’t familiar with this area and got here in the dark. I came in to cancel the room and Fatou explained the parking policy very clearly and left it up to me if I would want to cancel. However, she was able to offer me a parking courtesy. She assured me my car would be parked at the hotel. We went out to gather our things and register the vehicle. She pulled the valet attendant inside and discussed her plan. And they made it work. I ran to get some food for my family’s dinner and the valet was ready for me to leave the keys when I returned. When I stopped by the little store in the hotel for some waters, she kindly reiterated the parking situation. She also assured me that the lot being full had not been communicated yet as registration/valet had been busy otherwise she would have let me know. But also wanted to explain that parking was, in fact full, and the valet attendant was correct about that. She assured me that him saying it was full was not to be a jerk or anything of the sort. They were making special accommodations in using a manager spot overnight for me until guests scheduled to check out in the morning leave and they could move my car to a spot. Fatou was so kind, and so understanding. She is an asset to this hotel! Thankfully, we were able to stay in the clean, sufficient accommodations in the deluxe suite with two queen beds and a pullout couch for my family. We were able to get well rested, eat some breakfast in the morning and take our time before catching our flight back to the West Coast. Thank you Holiday Inn Express, and especially...
Read moreThis hotel is an SCAM! They STEAL! Our stay was nothing short of a nightmare—from check-in to check-out. We entrusted our room to the hotel’s cleaning staff only to discover, upon our return, that while our MacBook had been placed on the desk, our AirPods Pro were missing. By the way we called the front desk immediately after realizing that both items were left on a bed, instructing the cleaning team to secure them on the desk. The tracking data showed that the AirPods were last detected at the hotel, two hours before our return.
After alerting the front desk, the night staff promptly assisted by thoroughly searching our room—moving the bed, inspecting the sheets, and even checking the safe—yet the AirPods were nowhere to be found. They assured us that the issue would be handled by the day staff. Unfortunately, the assistance we received the next morning was equally disappointing. An unhelpful employee refused to disclose any details about the cleaning schedule or the team involved, insisting that we wait for the general manager at 10 AM. When we called ahead to follow up, we were informed that the general manager would no longer be coming, and instead, the assistant general manager was scheduled to arrive at noon. Now, the assistant manager stated that we needed to file a police report as it’s an insurance issue - the hotel makes no sense - it is not the guests responsibility to chase whatever insurance they are claiming. We are not from this ares and no staff told us that since the night before. So there are no policies for issues like these!? You run a hotel with senselessness!? We have a flight to catch and have been asking about this since last night and yet we have to wait for the police to now arrive and yet they took our money and stole our property. This is a level of foolishness I have never experienced in a hotel.
To make matters worse, we were charged for our stay without any resolution to this issue, despite our repeated calls and follow-ups over several frustrating hours. This experience has left us questioning whether it is now a crime to ask for your room to be cleaned and to expect that your personal belongings will remain secure. We need a full refund this is rubbish!
You are not safe here - your belongings are for...
Read moreIn previous years, my family and I always stayed in Manhattan. With the rising prices it was no longer justifiable, so I looked at the neighbouring boroughs and ultimately found New Jersey was the cheapest option with the best amenities nearby.
The hotel is 15mins away from Newport PATH station and 10mins from Newport mall. There’s also a Target 5mins away. The hotel is also surrounded by petrol stations so you’re never too far away from a midnight snack. It took approx. 20mins to get to WTC and approx 30mins to get to 33rd St. This hotel is well connected to Manhattan.
Our flight landed at 11am and we got to the hotel at 13:00. The woman at the front desk was happy to check us in early. The room had just been cleaned and there was a really strong smell of bleach. I’m happy the room was thoroughly cleaned.
The room itself was spacious with x2 double beds, a reasonably sized wardrobe, a bench area, microwave, a Keurig, a mini fridge, a large flat screen TV, a desk area, a sofa, and coffee table.
The bathroom was also very spacious, it came equipped with Dove products; hand wash, lotion, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There was an ample amount of fresh towels each day. They also provided a Conair hairdryer, it wasn’t mounted to the bathroom wall so I could dry my hair in the main room. I found this a great plus in comparison to other hotels. To be pernickety, there was one day we ran out of body wash because it wasn’t topped up but it was an easy fix, I called the front desk and they sorted it out for us.
The breakfast area was relatively small in comparison to the number of people eating breakfast. So, to avoid the rush, we went earlier. There was a good selection - the pancake machine was a hit with everyone. I did wish they had a water fountain in the main lobby, I thought that was lacking. They only had a hot water tap for teas and coffees.
I felt safe at the hotel, I had to swipe my keycard to enter into the lobby at the end of each day. The hotel staff are friendly and were approachable.
Overall, our stay at this IHG Hotel was great and I will definitely being...
