I can really recommend this place. I was looking for a cheap place for me and a couple of friends to stay for a few days to see New York, and quite directly i found this place for a quite reasonable price and when i saw the recessions, i booked it and i was not disapponited.
The Hotel itself is directly next to the entrance of the holland tunnel, but as we had a room on the parking-lot side, this wasn't really a issue, the room was quiet. I can't say how it will be in the other rooms. The room itself had a quite old looking interiour, but as it contained the neccesities and was really clean, and also in a well maintained condition, i can't really say this is a issue. Great point: Free parking included!
The was also breakfast included, which consisted out of a small (!) buffet. You get something to eat, and you have something in your stomach but it is certanly not a "continental breakfast" as the lady at the desk said. But i must admit, that as i am from europe, i don't really know if "continental breakfast" means the same in US as it usually describes a rather large selection here on the other side of the atlantic. This was the only downside i have, but considering the price i cannot really count this as bad, as at some point you get what you pay for, and a large buffet is maybe something for more pricey hotels.
Anyhow, on the plus side, you can reach Manhatten quite fast using the nearby PATH (which costs 2,75 $ one way, so take that into account) and you also have a shopping centre nearby aswell as a liquor store (with a suprisingly good selection of eastern european beers, by the way) and a hardware store. The hotel is also perfect to be reached by car, as you are on the jersey turnpike in no-time! So, five stars for the location aswell.
To sum everything up: It is a really good hotel, with a really good value for the money and i would book it again. If you look for cheap spot to stay, and can afford to not book the cheapest one...
Read moreStayed for 4 nights recently. This hotel is right next to the Holland Tunnel entrance so there may be heavy traffic during rush hour otherwise the location is excellent. The PATH train into Manhattan is an easy walk (make sure to take cash to buy train cards $5.50 for round trip was the best bargain for us). We had the 2 full size beds room for 3 adults. The beds were against the walls with a night stand between with plenty of phone charging options. The sheets were a little stiff for my taste and the AC was right on my feet otherwise sleeping was good. My son who had a bed to himself slept well. The room has a refrigerator, microwave and hair dryer. There is not a coffee maker in the room but there is always coffee in the lobby. TV is fine. Ours stopped working and was fixed promptly when reported. The breakfast is pastries, bread, cereal yogurt and fruit and was adequate. The area is small and tight but there is a nice new seating area right outside in good weather and the ice set tray can be used to get food and return to the room. Bathroom was decent with little storage but functional. There was a safe in the room. The room was clean. The desk staff were friendly. Check in was a bit tense. Apparently there was a problem charging the credit card they had. Rather than calling they sent an email at 3PM. I was driving at the time. They made it a point to let me know they were about to give the room away and it took several tense minutes to decide the room. The surrounding areas felt safe at all hours we were out and about. Morning runs through the neighborhood and along the river felt safe. Free parking on site is another huge benefit of this hotel. A mall across the street and several places to eat in walking distance. Really good place to stay for visits to NYC or before a cruise from...
Read moreThe hotel is an older but clean no-thrills three story property located next to the noisy Holland tunnel entrance. Typical customers include large groups of European high schoolers on field trips, young back packers, old couples, and any other folks looking to save money on lodging with some trade-offs. The bed was ok but you can feel the springs were a bit worn. Room came with a moderate size LCD TV with basic cable. Our stay was on the 3rd floor and we were about to get it for $106/night ($133/night with taxes and fees) via a Hotwire deal (look for same number of reviews and star ratings to tie the deal to the hotel).
Pros: -Location (15min walk through the mall away from the PATH Newport station into Manhattan and plenty of affordable food options nearby). However this is a long walk for anyone with leg, foot, or knee problems. 30-60mins travel from mid and lower Manhattan. -Free parking. Large lot with wide spaces. -Free breakfast consisting of muffins, donuts, bread (croissants, egg knots, etc), oatmeal, yogurts, bananas, oranges, apples, coffee, hot chocolate, and orange juice. Skip the bread as this was hard, dry, and flavorless.
Cons: -Constant road noise (truck and car horns, track jack braking, engine reving, etc) except from about 11pm-5:30am. -Poorly balanced water. The shower water can go from ice cold to scalding hot in a second or two. -No closet and limited hanger space (about 6 hangars) -No elevator -Small breakfast area shared with the reception desk. Only 2 small bar tables to eat at. There is an outdoor patio area with tables and chairs. Ok on a nice day but customers must eat in the hallways or their rooms on cold wintery or rainy days. -Thin walls. We could hear conversations from adjacent bedrooms, bathrooms, and...
