Can’t not say enough good words for the team at Exchange Physical Therapy on Monroe. Between myself as an avid runner that falls apart about once a year, and my 5-year-old daughter with some strength issues, my family spends a lot of time in physical therapy.
For my daughter, we first approached EPTG summer of 2020 to help with her gait (she was tripping over her own feet). I was immediately impressed by Emma at our first visit. Emma seemed to instinctively know how to manage a young child. For example, she would give my daughter a puzzle piece or a Lego block for each exercise and by the end of the visit she would complete the puzzle or have built a tower. When that didn’t work, and my daughter did typical 5-year-old stuff, Emma knew it was a time for a water break or to change up the activity. I would have been embarrassed when my daughter would act up like that, but EPTG schedules the kids middle of the day when it’s a bit quieter, so my daughter mostly had the run of the place. Further, not sure if this their practice or by chance, but I notice Emma is usually scheduled for an hour with my girl completely 1-1. After months of attention, we’ve graduated to a maintenance routine. I’m very happy to see how my daughter runs now with correct foot placement, rather than tripping over her own feet and bloodying her hands/ knees every few weeks.
For myself, I seem to get hurt about once a year due to over-training. After seeing the quality of the therapists and modern facility first hand when bringing my daughter, I decided to go to EPTG as well. I was matched with Taylor who has helped me navigate knee and shoulder issues. What I particularly like about EPTG is their unhurried approach as compared to other PT shops. Their engagement model seems to be about half the visit doing manual therapy and the other half directed strength & mobility work. This usually adds up to an hour, whereas other PT shops tend to have you out in 30-45 minutes. I have found Taylor super helpful, well informed on my issues, and to have a genuine concern for my improvement. When my schedule changes and Taylor isn’t available, no big deal, Liz was able to help me. At lot of PT shops want you to stay with the same therapist, and I think that generally makes sense for continuity of care. However, the layout of their facility is such that the three therapists have a good idea of what is going on with each client.
Other items I’ve found helpful are: (1) their online care routine portal that has videos of all the homework assigned, and (2) flexibility of scheduling – open from 7AM to 8PM and have Saturday morning...
Read moreI have the pleasure of working with Julie, and I highly recommend her! Julie is addressing the pain in my hips/knees, mostly due to running.
Upon meeting Julie, it was evident that she is extremely knowledgeable and truly cares about her patients’ well-being, interests, and their goals. To date, Julie continues to thoroughly assess my condition, listens to my concerns, and explains each step of my treatment plan, while sharing relative research to help me better understand my symptoms and my plan.
It is apparent that Julie tailors each session to my specific needs and goals. She is very attentive during sessions, and adjusts each session based on my progress and how I am feeling. Furthermore, Julie can always recall my progress and tolerance from previous sessions. This approach and her attention to fine detail makes me feel confident in the process, and I noticed relief and improvement after a few sessions. Lastly, Julie provides me with detailed notes, exercises, and modifications to incorporate in my daily routines, which has enhanced my recovery immensely.

Read moreAfter many years of abuse to my body through endurance sports, I'm a bit of a physical wreck and have been sidelined for some time with achilles tendinosis, tennis elbow (torn tendon) and a problematic knee.
I found EPTG Hoboken during covid while searching for a local convenient facility that also took current health concerns seriously. I found that and more. The reviews were all positive but don't nearly do it justice.
The facility is spotless and their attention to cleanliness and hygiene is all you could ask for. Great flexibility with appointments and staff are fantastic. Nat at the front desk is super-friendly and helpful with all billing questions and for physio, I have worked mostly with Taylor (who has worked miracles) and also with Liz - both have been great.
In terms of actual results - my knee is feeling significantly better, my achilles is in much better shape and I just ran 6 miles yesterday (first time in 2 years, from a former ironman), and Taylor has provided me with a solid maintenance program to do at home to keep the gains we made in the PT studio. We have now turned our attention to my elbow and I'm seeing improvements there too.
Still a work in progress for sure, but to say I'm pleased with the results so far would be an understatement. Can't recommend the place...
