I took my friend Reanee Gladden to see Dr. Amanda Nies this morning. We arrived on time and checked in on time. We were told to wait. So we waited for about 20 minutes. There was a sign on the wall saying that if a wait is longer than 10 minutes we should check with the desk. I went to see if there was a problem. They told me that they did not let the doctor know that we were there. Finally someone from Dr. Nies office came on brought us into her suite. All they wanted to do was make another appointment for Reanee. Reanee said "no" and we left. What a disappointment. Reanee had a stroke in December and she had this appointment for 2 months. She has no use of her right side. She was so looking forward to seeing a doctor with questions and hoping that they would be able to help. I would like to know what the doctor was doing while we waited and waited? Also, why didn't someone from Dr. Nies office come to see if we arrived? There was no one else waiting and I never saw anyone be called into her office. What a terrible way to run a business. I guess that Reanee will be looking for another neurologist. If the first neurologist that you see is not a good fit for you they don't allow you switch to any other neurologist within their practice, nor do they inform their patients of this policy. This is a serious disservice to the community because there is no other neurologists in Holland, forcing you to have to go to GR. I was straight out told "you can either come back and see me, the man I did not feel was a good fit, or you can go to Grandrapids." On top of that their was no patient eduction at either of the appointments I went to. I got more education and help from my ENT on lifestyle/diet changes. No appointment reminder, inaccurate directions from hospital sources, No verbal OR written information provided regarding location or time of appointment. Arrived at appointment on time and were told by 2 employees (volunteers?) that the PT office was in a different location and sent on a wild goose chase to a location across town. So...had to reschedule my appointment which I desperately needed and which is extremely difficult for me to get to once, never mind twice! Absolutely...
