WANT TO BEGIN OR END YOUR MORNING OR EVENING IN WAIKIKI ON AN ENERGETIC HIGH NOTE? ABSOLUTLY, Great BREAKING News!!! The Kilohana Hula Show has NOW also joined forces and moved to the "Hula Mound" for their Sunday through Wednesday 9:30A.M.- 10:30 A.M. performances.
They're back by popular demand (albeit in a slightly different format). As of today, Thursday, April 18, 2024, the show is back up and RUNNING :):):). Actually, according to the Waikiki Ambassadors, the captivating performances already started up last week. NOW HOWEVER, you can see this stunning hula extravaganza (my view), twice (two (2) times) each week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 6:30P.M. Enjoy the performances.
This remarkable hula medley of ancient and classical Hawaiian mele chants, music and dance took place on the evening of Saturday, December 30th, 2023 (pictures provided). It was the exciting culmination of a series of photographic journal entries and storylines beginning at 5:30AM early that morning. My experiences just prior to this show are posted in my "Waikiki Beach" post. My two posts are by necessity dramatically inter-connected.
This wonderful, powerful and very elegant Hula performance was the final touch on my experiences and memories from throughout that amazing day of inter-related, unforgettable experiences on Saturday, December 30th, 2023. The show followed a beautiful, mesmerizing, awesome sunset.
What a stunning, remarkable way to close my day of unbelieveable memorable experiences.
NOTE: Please feel free to share this post (and any of my other listings) with members of your immediate and extended family, friends and neighbors as you see suitable.
And, please check out my other nine (9 of 10) entries about the various beaches, which together make up the Waikiki Beaches.
PLEASE NOTE: RECENTLY, the Hula show was reschedule for Tuesdays and Saturdays...
Read moreThis is a free show that happens every Saturday night that starts at 6-6:30pm (depending on the sunset time) and lasts for an hour. It takes place on the pseudo stage with the turf grass under the huge banyan tree on Waikiki beach. There is a seating area with some turf grass as well. Many folks brought some blankets or towels to lay down and sit on, or some brought over their beach chairs or camp chairs that they have. Some folks also stood in the back or around the sides. This show is sponsored by the Hyatt Regency across the street, and if you are staying there, you can check out beach chairs and towels from the pool to bring over. We showed up about 30 minutes early and was able to watch the sunset, and then turn around and watch the show. There is a live band playing music, and hula dancers that come out to perform as well. They played all different types of songs and explained what each song meant and the story it was telling. The dancers had different costumes and different things they held in their hand for each number. They ranged in ages from 4 to 17 I would guess, and they were all talented. It was quite informative and enjoyable as someone who has never seen true hula...
Read moreShow lacks the vibrancy it once had. The 1 female dancer looked like she recently learned the dancers. Zero engagement with audience. The 1 guy was entertaining and looked like he thoroughly enjoyed dancing, could use better dancing clothes. The elderly ladies seem nice but may need better speakers to hear them sing. The tree is beautiful as long as you don't look at the portable potty kiosks surrounding it. I think the show needs a...
