DO NOT GO HERE! The food was cooked on plastic, smelled like chemicals, and after being stupid enough to put a bite in my mouth tasted like burnt plastic.
I’m not one to write bad reviews, but our experience here was too poor to let other people fall into the same trap. Being a busy Saturday night, many places around the beach were full so my partner and I decided to walk around and find a spot that looked good for dinner. We stumbled upon this place after walking around for a while and decided to see if they had some seats. As we walked up to host stand, the blonde hostess whispered “oh sh*t” under her breath. I decided to just ignore it and we were seated after ten minutes or so. I got the nachos and my partner got the salad. The salad was good, but when my nachos arrived they smelt like burnt plastic. I thought that maybe I had been mistaking the smell from something else and tried them anyways. All I could taste was this overpowering burnt plastic/chemical taste. I noticed the nachos were baked on a “parchment paper” plastic sheet with their logo on it in red ink. I had my partner smell and try them and he confirmed that it both smelled and tasted horrible. My partner addressed the issue with the server and all that was said was “Oh really? I’ll let the cook know”, but then he never came back to our table and just started serving the tables next to us. No offer to remake the dish, no compensation for the meal. I truthfully expected this, but am very disappointed because they honestly didn’t care at all when we brought it up spent over $30 on a dish I couldn’t even eat and left there. It was just the fact that everyone involved here was so careless about everything. My advice would be to dine elsewhere at all costs.
Edit: I woke up in the middle of the night and have spent the entire night puking my guts up. I am so sick I can’t hold anything down and I’ve just been hunched over dry heaving for the past hour and half. I never vomit or get sick like this so I know it was the one or two bites of food. Never again, I wish I could go back in time to prevent us from ever stumbling...

My recent visit to Shorefyre in Waikiki left me compelled to share a rather disappointing experience. My friends and I arrived promptly at 7:15 am, eagerly anticipating a pleasant breakfast, as we had heard wonderful things about this establishment. However, our encounter with the hostess left much to be desired.
Despite being aware of the 7:30 am opening time, we arrived early, hoping to secure a good spot. Unfortunately, the hostess's demeanor was far from welcoming; in fact, it bordered on outright rudeness. Our inquiries about an early seating were met with a dismissive attitude, setting a disheartening tone for our visit.
What stood out was the hostess's comment about our two strollers, expressing concern that they would occupy too much space, preventing the accommodation of other guests. This struck us as odd, considering we were the sole patrons at that early hour. Instead of offering solutions or a warm welcome, her remark only added to our sense of unwarranted inconvenience.
In a nearly empty restaurant at the beginning of the day, flexibility and understanding should prevail, especially when it comes to accommodating families with strollers. This incident underscores the need for Shorefyre's management to address communication and customer service training among their staff.
While the ambiance and menu of Shorefyre may indeed be appealing, our experience with the hostess tainted our perception. A warm welcome and a customer-centric approach go a long way in shaping a positive dining experience, and, unfortunately, Shorefyre fell short in this regard.
I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the management at Shorefyre. Investing in additional training for front-of-house staff and reinforcing the importance of customer engagement would greatly enhance the overall dining experience for future patrons. Here's hoping for positive changes that align with the potential of this...
Read moreThe food here is pretty good BUT I will never return due to the service and staff. I’m not really sure what’s happening at this restaurant, but so many members of the staff seem like they are being forced to work here against their will with how they act and treat customers. The hostess was so rude from the moment we arrived. She came back to the host stand and just stared at us not saying anything. When I asked if we could be seated a little before our reservation or if we needed to wait, she sighed loudly then rolled her eyes and shrugged and said “well how many of you are there.” She then went and begrudgingly wiped down one of the MANY open tables and threw down the menus and silverware and walked away. Our waitress was ok, but she also seemed like she didn’t want to be there. She misunderstood one of us while taking our order and got aggressive instead of just asking us to repeat the order. She then went and loudly yelled at and berated the table next to us for allowing a bird to eat a small piece of egg that had fallen off their plate. It was startling. Our family was talking about the small birds who hop around the outside of the restaurant, and the same waitress came over and actively tried to hit the birds with her checkbook over and over. The only pleasant people were the two employees who brought our food to us so kudos to them but the attitudes of everyone else were shocking. For how expensive this place is (paid $165+ for a breakfast of 4), I absolutely do not recommend spending your money here. There are plenty of other places in Honolulu who will value your patronage. We ate here the last time we were in Honolulu and it was nearly impossible to get a seat - now it seems people are staying away and for good reason. I hope the management can turn this place around before their staff runs it...
