Pet Paradise Birmingham is a beautiful location with state of the art play and boarding areas. I recently went over seas and had my two dogs boarded. Their online cameras are a great way to check in on your pets and see how they are socializing and enjoying their time.
My issue comes with an incident that occurred while my dogs were boarded. I received a text one morning that a hot spot had come up on one of my dogs backs at the base of his neck. The veterinary team claimed that this hot spot occurred because of an allergy to chicken, interesting as my dog has eaten the same food his entire adult life and never had a flair up before. They prescribed an ointment and advised it would clear up within 10 days. Now that the spot has cleared up there is a visible bite mark on his skin. I do not care so much that he got bit as dogs play with their mouths and accidents happen but to chalk it up to a false allergy to food is just plain wrong. I threw out his food and got a special sensitive skin diet to replace it with which was obviously unnecessary and an additional expense that didn’t need to happen.
I understand this is a new business in Birmingham and miscommunication can happen but it’s better to tell the truth up front to a paying customer than to come...
Read moreEdited to say that we are very disappointed in our experience with Pet Paradise. First off, we sent extra food just in case. While we were on vacation, they text me that they were out of food and wanted to know if I wanted them to feed their food. I was on vacation and didn't have my phone on me so my pup went without food. Very disappointing. Also, we were running ahead of schedule for pick up so I called to see when she could be ready as she was getting a bath, blow dry and brush. They asked the groomer and we were told 10:30 - 11:00. We got there at 11:10 and when she came out she was still wet. My goldendoodle gets groomed the following Monday and she was scared to death. Groomer said she tried to hide and curled up in a ball. My girl gets groomed every 5 weeks and NEVER acts like this as she enjoys her spa days. Whatever they did traumatized her. She also was very matted on her ears from not being blow dryed and brushed. I tried to get them out but our groomer had to cut her ears back unfortunately. I was also told that the bath, blow dry and brush would be $45 and it was $75. According to their price sheet it shoukd have been $65. Extremely disappointed and hoping my girl will learn to love her spa days again. She will not...
Read moreSo I just called to actually ask a question in regard to a reservation I made, and the manager over the property, Jessica, decided to talk to me about a review I left, so now I’m leaving another review because how unprofessional is it to discuss a past review versus trying to make a situation better. Then I get told that I’m not going to be a great fit there because of how I reacted to an employee disrespecting me. I swear Pet Paradise on Tattersall has completely gone to mush! The only side of that facility I deal with is New Day. I have never in my entire life been treated this way. It’s starting to come off a little racist at this point. What type of training do these managers receive to tell someone that was disrespected by an employee that they can no longer have their pet staying there? And not to mention, the Wellness Plan states she can get free nights, but now after a year of being on the plan, I’m told that there’s an upcharge for her not being spayed and having to stay in one-on-one suites?? A...
