Read moreI really wanted to like this place and like this place but I have to be honest and say that it wasn't all of that. Cute? YES. Clean? YES Friendly service? Absolutely. Food? "Ding" ..... a huge one.....
This place definitely gets a lot of business. The wait was about 45 minutes, on a Sunday, for brunch. That was to be expected. We opted to sit at the bar tops as they were first come; first serve. The servers introduced themselves appropriately and were super friendly; in the midst of the Sunday chaos. They checked on us pretty frequently and seemed to balance themselves well in the midst of being busy.
On to the food..... I will begin with what was great! The pancake! The menu never lied when it described it as being the "fluffiest" you will ever take. Speaking of pancake....you can substitute a side for a pancake; with no additional charge! Most of the places in which I've visited do NOT let you do this and I thought this was definitely a way to stand out. My eggs were pretty bland and seemed to be lacking in seasoning. I did NOT like that the only non-pork item was the chicken sausage. I could be wrong, but I would have sworn that the chicken sausage looked identical to the pork and it was difficult to tell the difference. Although there are many ppl who eat pork; it is important to provide options for those that have specific lifestyle habits or needs. I was not full at the conclusion of my meal; so I felt as though the portion size could be a little better.
This place gets a lot of business so maybe it is just me. I am uncertain if I...
Read moreWe came 10 min till 10am, there was a wait of approximately 25 min, its understood give or take maybe more or less. Our wait time turned into 45 min, I asked the hostess about our wait time, and she said that there would be 3 more ahead us. This wait then turned into a hour and a half wait, so I went back again to ask about us being seated and she had already moved onto another guest list and a line had been drawn through my name on the old list. We were seated right outside the front door, so we heard EVERY single name called, so it was no way we missed it. This kind of ruined my first experience at this restaurant as it has been given rave reviews from people that I know and the written reviews. Several people that came in after us were seated before us including someone that the hostess apparently knew because she hugged this lady, and she walked them inside and they were seated before us. This is bad business and very unprofessional. But on to the food, i ordered the fried chicken, which was really good, seasoned very well, the grits which are a nogo for me, taste more like polenta, if youre from the south you know there is a difference, the consistency was not right, i am used to a creamy buttery flavor, they were gritty. I also ordered one pancake a la Carte, very good, and i also had fruit which i didnt eat because there was a short hair maybe an eyelash on it, which the waitress was very nice about substituting, it was no biggie it happens. Sweet tea was also very good. I would come back, maybe at a time when it is...
