I have mixed reviews on just about everything. Our first clinician made us feel very uncomfortable. I guess she didn't like us either as she made sure that we were with a different clinician after our first appointment which was good because the next clinician was AMAZING and I'm so glad we switched. The staff at the front also made us uncomfortable. They all smiled and were welcoming but it all felt so fake. Our boy had to have a second band and we switched locations and luckily the next location was so much better.
The staff was was much more warm and welcoming. The clinicians were all more friendly and made us feel welcomed. We didn't feel like a burden.
My biggest complaint of this company overall is the HORRIBLE billing and insurance team. We have twins and they confirmed that our insurance would cover 100% after meeting our deductible so we made a $950 payment to hit our deductible. Then we got slapped with another $800 bill just weeks later. When I called their billing department, the girl I spoke to was just like - "Oh yeah. It billed differently." I kept trying to get her to give me the backup from where she got the information from my insurance so I could get the misquote from my insurance but she kept saying that she didn't have any backup.
So when my son went to get his second helmet, they once again tried to tell me it was covered at 100% and I told them it wasn't and explained to them that we already went through this. I asked them to get me the exact number I would be paying so I would know before signing any agreement. Low and behold, the day of my appointment, I show up to an agreement showing $0 payment. I told them that I was not going to sign it. So they called their external billing team. They then held me up for fifteen minutes while their billing team tried to sort it out. Then they told me I had to pay $250 right then or they would not let my son get his band.
So because I had to do your job because you couldn't figure it out, you are going to demand payment? Nice job, CT. I wouldn't recommend you to anyone. Go to Hanger. Hopefully they have a billing team who knows what they are...
Read moreI recently visited Cranial Technologies for a consultation regarding Plagiocephaly treatment for my son. Unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired.
From the moment I arrived, I made it clear that I would be paying out of pocket for the treatment. However, throughout the entire visit, the staff kept mentioning insurance approvals, which was confusing and frustrating given my payment method.
One of the most concerning aspects was the lack of transparency when it came to pricing. Despite my persistent inquiries, I was repeatedly told that they couldn't provide a quote and that their insurance department needed to get involved. Even though I was ready to pay upfront, they refused to give me a straightforward answer.
(My son was not able to begin treatment or start the process today, they were not interested in providing care)
Furthermore, I discovered that there isn't even a doctor on their staff who can prescribe the treatment. Instead, they rely on the primary care physician to sign off on the prescription. (Which is the real reason we couldn't start treatment today) In addition to the huge waste of time, this raised serious concerns for me, as it means there's no on-site doctor to address potential issues or make necessary adjustments if something were to go wrong.
When I persisted in asking for pricing, they directed me to watch an insurance video, even though I was paying out of pocket. They left me in a room with the video on loop, which was both perplexing and unprofessional.
In the end, I walked away feeling that they weren't genuinely interested in earning my business. The lack of clear communication, absence of a doctor on-site, and the repeated runaround on pricing left me disappointed and concerned for my child's well-being.
Given my experience, I would advise others to carefully consider their options before choosing Cranial Technologies for Plagiocephaly treatment. Your child's health and your peace of mind should...

But keep in mind that getting you to buy a helmet is how they make their money . What didnât sit right with me is when I asked what I can do in the mean time to avoid farther flattening (while they talked to insurance) . They said ânothing just keep her comfortable.â That was a red flag for me .
So they will always tell you is needed. After informing myself and speaking to other moms that were able to fix it with out a helmet . She had minor facial deformities. One ear was a bit higher then the other. Flat spot on the back from sleeping preference . I made a consultation with a occupational therapist on instagram . She gave step by step what to do and saw improvements in a month . Also got a second opinion at Texas childrenâs. After the month of putting in work . She no longer needs it . Is her head perfect . No. Do I still need to put more work yes . But there was something I could do .
My insurance didnât cover the helmet . So for those mamas that in the same situation just know it can be avoided.
Obviously there is babies that definitely need it . But just wanted to share...
