Out of all the dozens of physicians I've seen in my life, Dr. Kim has probably been the worst physician and most unprofessional physician I've ever had the unfortunate obligation to be a patient of.
I've met quite a few unprofessional physicians where it's pretty obvious they hate their job and obviously would rather you (the patient not be their patient). Dr. Kim takes the highest obvious "disdain for their complex patients award."
Dr. Kim, stating, "I don't have time for you/this in appointment" while I'm trying to explain to him as to why I'm having a difficult time in finding a pain management specialist in my city probably is the most unprofessional thing a doc. can state to a patient./
No lie, Dr. Kim literally made my wife cry (despite not being the patient of Dr. Kim's herself) while I was trying to explain to him that I literally cannot breathe while standing up and walking around at my workplace while doing my job. He dismissed me stating that I need to see a pain management specialist and that he cannot refer me to one since I am located in San Antonio. I seriously doubt that seeing I can be referred out from my other UTH physicians.
When I told him that I could not see a pain specialist because I really do not know what a pain specialist is. So much that I went to two other NeuroS in SA asking for a ref. only to be tossed around two MORE NeuroS twice and finally ending at the last NeuroS stating they needed additional imagaing (Scoliosis Scan) first before I can get a referral to a pain specialist.. Dr. Kim had ordered 2 spinal XRY and 2 MRIs and I was not planning to pay out of pocket to the only SA imaging provider that does Scoliosis Scans. My insurer does not cover the only provider of this imaging so this left me stuck not being able to see this SA NeuroS in order to get a referral to a pain specialist.
Unfortunately, what is probably the most disgusting about Dr. Kim's inability to listen to my concerns as a patient is the extraordinary lack of professionalism as a seasoned NeuroS, especially at a world renowned research medical facility such as UT Physicians.
Moreover, his lack of compassion with mentioning to him that I am having trouble breathing at work due to my congenital kyphoscoliosis is just icing on the cake here.
But wait there's more! Probably the most insane thing (gaslight) he stated to me today was that he was not my primary NeuroS physician since he just gave me a (consult for one visit) despite literally being referred to him by another UT physician in another department. No Dr. Kim, you don't remember ordering all that imaging for me at the consult visit and therefore seeing me on my second visit in HTX (which you were so very late for) only to glance at at my imaging for 2 minutes and tell me that it's not that bad despite me asking why I've been having progressive breathing issues and significantly more pain while standing up and walking around? Also...I found out by another NeuroS my incontinence as a 38 yr old is likely related to my spine... For which Dr. Kim completely failed to relay to me.
Dr. Kim is why people like myself, with many complex congenital medical issues have PTSD by the time we turn middle aged. I honestly think UT Physicians should be quite embarrassed by the fact that Dr. Kim is representing this institution with such unprofessionalism and extraordinary poor bedside manner. I AM EVEN EMBARRASSED that all my other specialists at UT Physicians have to share the same accolades that Dr. Kim has received as a physician there!
Thanks for making my wife cry Dr. Kim and your complete disregard of a patient today Thankfully I recorded this telehealth visit and thankfully I didn't drive four hours to Houston for this visit. Thankfully I'm not too phased from all of this.
If I'm going to do anything about this matter, for which I know patients don't have much recourse here, it will be because of my wife and her witnessing the amount of complete disregard by a physician today. She has more persistence in the necessity to get justice for patients...
Read moreI was referred to Dr. Daniel H. Kim by my pain doctor, Dr. George M. Atallah with Modern Pain Management, for an abundance of issues throughout my back. Dr. Kim's staff are very nice. You can interact or cross paths with several different staff members throughout your appt. His waiting room is nice, boy, comfy, with an amazing view. When I finally got to meet Dr. Kim, I found him to be very friendly, very knowledgeable, had a very good bedside manner, had a fun yet professional attitude and personality, he knows how to make you feel at ease if you are nervous about any kind of surgery. Dr. Kim recommend i get my neck done first (acdf) even though my lower back was hurting more. He said that due to the fact that the neck has nerves that travel everywhere and I have been suffering from migraines, neck shoulder and upper back pain, tingling down to my elbows and fingers, dropping things, you name it. All i can say, I am so very thankful that he's is amazing in his specialty and after reading up on him, I knew that his decision was obviously for a reason beyond the pain i was in so I trusted his decision. I am 2 weeks post-op and I can not wait to thank Dr. Kim in person (saw his colleague today) because he has changed my life in ways, I can't explain, but I'm not questioning it only so very grateful to have come out of surgery 1. In very little pain, 2. The pain in my lower back and right rear cheek has dissipated, like seriously gone. I am in total shock. I couldn't sit, I couldn't lay down, I was in pain all the time so I just stood most the day and found things to do until it was time for bed and I knew then I would be able to get at least 4-6 hrs of rest. Now, I am here to say that I have had a lot of surgeries in my days, but the acdf has far been the most easiest and least painful of them all. I think the worst of it it about a week later I started having the known shoulder pain that happens after surgery and it hurt, but nothing I couldn't take, it was more annoying than anything cuz it would linger, thankful, I'm at the end of that and well on my way to recovery. I don't even have to go through physical therapy because I was able to do almost anything just not to lift heavy things, bend, or twist. The same day of surgery, I was able to wesr my own clothes and no one knew I was the patient. This is the beginning to a life without severe pain. So blessed to have Dr. Kim as my surgeon. I am already referring him to friend and family. Thank you Dr. Kim and your entire staff for working diligently in getting the approval...
Read moreI have nothing but praises to Almighty God for leading me to Dr. Daniel Kim just about two months ago after disappointing encounters with other Surgeons and an actual surgery with a third Surgeon that did not solve the problem. Dr. Kim reviewed the MRI and other radiological images, he conducted certain tests on me to evaluate the level of my pain, and he also checked my balance. These were all a first for me and he immediately took great care to explain that I was in danger of paralysis if I did not have cervical surgery. Dr. Kim has an excellent bedside manner, he was gentle and compassionate while still conveying the seriousness of the condition. Consequently, he was able to allay my fears about this delicate surgery and very importantly, he restored my confidence in the medical profession. I was scheduled for a ACDF plus Corpectomy of C4-C6 (and some other stuff) almost immediately. Stephanie his Assistant and all other staff really were and still are a blessing to me and to Dr. Kim. They are very polite and very caring. They respond to messages and return phone calls promptly. All concerns are handled compassionately and professionally. As a patient, I felt like I mattered to them. It was never a problem getting an appointment to see Dr. Kim unlike other Specialists I have encountered. I am on the road to recovery, I understand it may be several months for all the residual symptoms to disappear but I am confident that with God's help and the excellent care of Dr. Kim and his team, I will have my health fully restored. Here is a huge shout out of gratitude to Dr. Daniel Kim and all his staff 🤗🥰. May God...
