My husband and I came here on 8/2/2021 for our 7th Anniversary but also the day we officially tied the knot at the courthouse.. we wanted to celebrate our day. It was a steady Monday afternoon when we came. There was a doormen? Who opened the door for us.. then greeted us by two hostess. Okay wow.
-The first impression was how bright and open the inside is.. the beautiful decor to the little details of themed sail ships/boat like features with such a modern take all over the place.. The bar in the center was artistically done.. stunning with a built in raw bar displaying their seafood. It definitely got me in a seafood vibe! All the staff looked sharp and well groomed.
-We were seated in a booth in front of the bar. Quickly then greeted by our server Bow who started us with something to drink. He basically had all their drinks memorized! He was so personable, he made us laugh and gave us amazing suggestions. I don’t drink alcohol .. so he quickly flipped the script all the drinks to mocktails. He asked if I’m looking for sweetness, sourness, etc. I appreciated this because I had no idea. I went with this Passionfruit lemonade concoction, forgot the name but it was balanced and refreshing! My husband got a beer.
-When it came down to ordering our meal. Bow gave us lots of recommendations and even shared items off the menu. For appetizers we ordered the mesquite grilled oysters with garlic butter Roman cheese. It was so darn good, I was scraping the shell for more LOL. For our entree, my husband orders the redfish topped with crab meat and with two jumbo shrimp stuffed with jalapeño white cheddar wrapped in bacon! Absolutely amazing. I ordered the mesquite grilled salmon. Incredible smoke flavor, I can’t get over how perfectly grilled this salmon was. So juicy, a tiny bit under in the middle, this is how salmon should always be done! Simplicity done at its finest. The only critique is the seafood rice for our side. It’s very underwhelming, nothing exciting just two baby shrimps and a sliver of fish mixed with rice. But the small shrimp empanadas side was tasty!
-After our meal was finished. Bow had already made it such an experience with his fun personality but also being so attentive .. he brought us a huge slice of pecan pie with a candle to celebrate our special day. I thought I was full until I had one bite of that pie! Delicious but not overly sweet. He even gave us a tour of there private dining room upstairs. Truly an amazing business they have here.
Over all this place gives you the fine dining experience without the overpriced cost. The amount of care in the customer service was amazing. 12/10 would recommend! I’m so happy we found a new favorite spot! Janice GM you should be very proud of your team and your...
Read moreSo take this review with a grain of salt... No pun intended. I haven't been to the Goode Company Seafood in quite some time. I didn't realize they had renovated the entire restaurant, and not in a good way. This used to be an elegant upscale hideaway with 5 star dishes prepared to perfection. The interior was outfitted with old ship relics and artifacts which added to the decadent dining experience. I got there and found three micro restaurants. Taco, burger and pizza spots next to the seafood restaurant. Upon entering my heart dropped and broke into pieces after seeing what they had done to this beloved favorite. All of the fine wood embellishments and furniture were replaced with cheap diner style seating and neon signs. It looked like a cross between Red Lobster and Long John Silver's. Some of the old menu items were still there like the ceviche in a glass served with tortilla chips. I ordered the flounder special, served with elote corn, empanada and a side of spinach. First, the portion size was very small, the fish was cold and over cooked. It actually tasted like it had been frozen or possibly prepared the previous day. The empanada had one small shrimp in it, the rest was filling and bell peppers. The server would not let me substitute the corn for another vegetable. I'm doing keto so the corn is a no go for me. He brought it out on the side, it was ice cold. My date ordered onion rings, which were also cold. The cold food was a bit of a mystery since the place was pretty empty for a Saturday afternoon. The menu has been scaled down to fit on a single laminate page This is no longer the Goode Company Seafood I remember. I get it, demographics change, times change and a restaurant has to change with it but this place doesn't know what it wants to be anymore. It's like they want to keep the customers that have come here for years but embrace the increasing Latin population while trying to also appeal to the DoorDash dine-at home crowd. Lastly, if you're going to downgrade the portions, and appeal to a different tax bracket don't charge $45 for two small slivers of flounder.I truly felt scammed. This was a terrible dining experience and I will never come back to this location ever. If you're looking for the old Goode Company Seafood, try a different location, this is just a mini Kemah Boardwalk now. Farewell to one of Houston's great...

My visit started off on a great note. Nick, the bartender, was excellent—super attentive, friendly, and offered great suggestions to elevate my appetizers. I ordered a house salad, the mini Campechana, and managed to sneak in a frozen margarita just before happy hour ended. Everything up to that point was on track for a solid experience.
Unfortunately, things shifted once my main course arrived. The level of attentiveness noticeably dropped—not just for me, but for others around me. A gentleman seated nearby even commented, “Looks like we no longer exist,” and I couldn’t help but agree. The energy just changed.
As for the food: I ordered the Seafood Platter, which, according to the menu, promised a “hearty heap” of catfish, Gulf shrimp, oysters, stuffed shrimp, and stuffed crab with a side. The actual plate included: • 2 small catfish nuggets • 3 shrimp • 3 small oysters • 1 stuffed shrimp • 1 stuffed crab • A small portion of a side (about three bites) • Bonus items: 1 empanada and a piece of garlic bread
The taste was okay, but not memorable—especially not at the $36 premium price point. For the portion and quality, I’ve honestly had better value at places like Pappadeaux’s.
To be fair, there was an issue with the bill, but it was resolved quickly. I still left gratuity and gave a thumbs-down rating—not to make a scene, but to express the overall inconsistency in my experience.
What truly caught me off guard was what happened as I was leaving. A person I assumed was the manager stopped me outside and asked: • Why I gave a thumbs-down • If it was because the bartender wasn’t attentive • If it was about the bill • If I wanted a dessert to-go • And finally, “Did you want me to comp the meal?”
Honestly, that was the most awkward part of the night. I told him plainly, “I didn’t expect the quality check to come as I was leaving the restaurant. I expected it during dinner. And no thank you, I don’t need you to comp my meal. I’ve already paid and left gratuity.”
I wasn’t even planning to leave a review, but that uncomfortable final interaction sealed the decision.
I do want to give Nick his flowers—he started off strong, and I appreciated the recommendations. But there was a clear drop in service and attentiveness halfway through, and for a first-time visit, that’s hard...
