Game Guys TCG — Local services in Houston

The vibes here are horrid and the prices for sealed product is ridiculous. Way over market, and definitely over MSRP. I came to casually play on pokemon day and and was moved from the actually nice seating area that was all reserved for the tournaments going on that day to the area for 'side events' that had awful seating. No one seemed interested in casual play and were just there for the tournaments, which is understandable since I did not want to sit and play in those chairs after one game with a friend I brought along. So I asked about the tournaments that were going on that day and was brushed off.

Don't recommend this place, especially for purchasing sealed product, literally just buy off tcgplayer or other people selling locally at market price. Only seems good for tournaments which are decently priced. Not sure how well they're run though since no one there was willing to answer my...

As someone who’s been part of the TCG community for a long time, I don’t take writing negative reviews lightly. I understand that running a business is difficult and margins can be tight, but I also believe stores should balance profitability with respect for the community that supports them.

Unfortunately, my experience here left me disappointed. Many items are listed well over MSRP, sometimes more than 100%, and it’s hard not to feel like the focus is on maximizing profit rather than serving the community. I understand a small markup, but this is egregious. I didn’t sense any real interest in fostering a healthy, sustainable player base.

This isn’t meant to be a bitter or emotional post. I’m simply sharing my perspective in the hope that it helps others make informed decisions. There are plenty of great local stores that prioritize community engagement, this just didn’t feel like one of them....
