I am in the process of moving into Harvest Hill Apartments. I've signed my lease and done all the things but I am transitioning from my current place. I like having a bit of overlap between my current place and my new place to address any concerns before moving in. This way I can get all my services installed and do my own deep clean.
So far, the leasing office has been great with following up and taking care of anything needed. They are responsive and helpful. Any maintenance was handled quickly and correctly.
I can tell the property manager or owner is working on updating the property incrementally and has been doing updates to the units. My place is a clear indication of that (new appliances, new carpet, fresh paint). The complex was not recently built and I did see evidence of roaches during the showing so I was aware there might be some on move in. This is typical with older units and wasnt showing signs of a heavy infestation problem.
I have since bombed on my own and put down preventive measures. I did my own deep clean (which also let me know that the place was cleaned decently before move in since it wasnt covered in grime) and have been back each day to check and the last week there were no evidence of the bugs. With regular pest control, I do not see it being an issue.
I also stop by randomly at different times of day and night to gauge the community activity. The gate is always closed and locked, its quiet and peaceful. I also do this before I see an apartment to check the neighborhood but since its a gated community it is hard to check the apartment complex.
I was given information on how to register my vehicle and how to register frequent guests. Access is controlled and also made easy for residents to manage. There is coffee and there was a resident party in the leasing office for the holidays.
No place is perfect but I do think the value you get for the cost here is worth it. The location provides great proximity to a lot of different activities in the city and is close to public transit. I had two different random conversations with residents when I stopped by at different times, during my application process, that gave praise to the property and management of it. I will update my review at the 90 day mark after I have lived on the property for a while as well.
4/10/25 Update (4 months moved in)
Pros: They are doing maintenance on the grounds and the place is kept up. Is something is broken on the property is it fixed quickly. Response time to work orders is great, but to be fair I havent really had any problems with my place to need many. Office team is friendly and professional.
Mid: I have only seen a couple of roaches after the first couple weeks I moved in. Literally only two, one was coming up out of the bathtub drain and the other the kitchen sink drain. So it seems you will have to be mindful about doing regular pest control.
Con: I was in-between jobs January-February and my car was towed. The tow company said my car was not registered but they could see my original submission in their system. However, they explained that day of the tow it was not in the system. Further telling me they do not tow cars pending. I submitted my registration on 12/13/24 and my car was towed 1/14/25. I am thinking that the submission fell out after 30 days. Worst possible time ever though and I did not have the mental capacity to deal with small claims court. I have a screenshot from where I submitted my parking registration and I believe the time frame for a claim is one year. The point is, be sure to keep your documents and followup with the front office on the approval. Mistakes happen so do your due diligence. I am fortunate that I could pay the $400 cost but I know that is not the case...
Read moreHarvest Hill has for the most part given an experience relative to the pricing of the apartment. An okay place to live and generally responsive. No major complaints. This past month has been a truly disappointing experience that I must share with others to think about before moving here. As one of the reviewers below mentioned, the complex decided to add a washer and dryer to each apartment. Initially very exciting news. The communication was not the best leading up to the construction. I figured there would be a bit of disruption but for the next month I found myself paying for hotel rooms, installing cameras, and moving back home. The response below from the apartment claims that they hired a professional team but I have plenty of footage that proves otherwise. I would come home to my door unlocked or open, lights on, to my bathroom a mess and obviously being used, to people coming in and out my apartment with no notice and debris/dust on every single thing. Through all of this I spent much of my time begging the staff at Harvest Hill for better communication and accountability for what I was going through, but the manager would rather stand ten toes down on whatever script the owners are telling her to say. I still have to pay rent and my utilities at regular even though my apartment has been unlivable for weeks but no washer or dryer yet for all my troubles. You may be thinking this is not a problem you will have to worry about as the washer and dryers will be there. But I warn that any place that can treat its residents with such callousness and negligence is not a place that you should consider moving into. I have never felt so hopeless in my life, but I truly found myself yelling into the wind because there seemed to be no one who could help me or who were willing to. For those considering to move here, please consider looking somewhere else with similar prices. For the complex, no need to copy and paste your scripted responses. I know they are not genuine and after many calls and days in the office, your actions (or lack of) have spoken louder than anything.
Update: I had to post using my girlfriend's account since for some reason it wouldn't let me post under mines. So this is an older post. The floor was never finished, but they did come and install the washer and dryer recently so that's something I guess. Just grateful for some peace and to have my place back until I...
