EDIT. Came back August 2021 for a cut and color and prices were still amazingly affordable. All the staff were wearing masks and I felt pretty safe COVID-wise. I asked Helen for a shorter medium length cut and mushroom color highlights (didnā€™t want to go as light). Killed it again :-) Iā€™ve gone to Helen for the past 7 years for haircuts / color. She always does a fantastic job giving you the color you want without frying your hair. This last time might be my favorite, and pictures donā€™t do it justice. I asked for an ashy blonde balayage with darker roots (to help the color last longer) and she killed it!

It's hard to beat the prices and I didn't really experience a language barrier at all. It helped that I keep a picture in my phone of the style of cut I was wanting along with a few other extras I like to get done. These folks are professional in their work and everything turned out great! Plenty on staff and I'm usually in and out in about 20 minutes. They have a seamstress/tailor on site and do some waxing as well. This is about the 4th time back and even though it's a good little drive for me, I'll be back!

Not only that, she communicates clearly throughout the process so I knew what to expect (how long each step will take, the mix of colors she used, etc.) My hair feels soft afterwards too! Itā€™s apparent that she cares about the customerā€™s experience. I will definitely be back šŸ˜Š

Literally the BEST hair salon in Houston. Helen is THE most skilled, kindest, and honest hair stylist in the city. Her experience has been her ENTIRE LIFE. Sheā€™s a diamond in the rough. ā¤ļø

A haircut costs $20 (impossible price for a womanā€™s haircut these days), and Iā€™m ALWAYS SO HAPPY!!! My balayage was $180ā€”a BARGAIN for the qualityā€”she uses the most meticulous v-layered strokes (you wonā€™t find ANY salon with this level of detail) for a gorgeous, long-lasted natural finish. You will not be disappointed!

YES, I have tried many high-end hair salons in Montrose that charge $80 for a quick, uneven haircut job and $270+ for a mediocre balayage. Their experience? Couldnā€™t match 30+ years like Helenā€™s (approximating here). We called and asked if they cut kidsā€™ hair. The gentlemen gladly said yes and said he will try even if they cry. He was great! One baby cried and it didnā€™t bother him at all. He kept cutting away and tried to soothe him. We donā€™t get this type of service in Manhattan. Will definitely come here again when we visit Houston. Price is also great! (For some reason this review got updated but weā€™ve been visiting here for the past 4 years) love it!

I've been here several times and usually have a good experience. David is the best. He has a great eye for style and gives good feedback to give you a cut and colour that will suit your face. He did a fantastic job with dying my balayage. Everyone is pretty good here but i have come here once and got a pretty bad trim on my bangs that was much too short, uneven, and sparse enough to see too much of my forehead. It looked like a child took scissors to my bangs. It's best to just make an appointment and make sure you get the right stylist for you. Overall though it's a great place and very well priced.
