St. Anne Catholic Church — Local services in Houston

The security guard was not kind. Why does a church need guards? I was judged, embarassed, and asked to remove my prayer mantle before Mass. She said it would make the priest nervous, if I kept my head prayer mantle on. A man of God does not live in fear or anxiousness. Next, the deacons tell you where to sit sometimes and where not to sit. Jesus welcomed all and went among all. Where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty, freedom. Some members are friendly, but most aren't. I pay tithes to the the Catholic church, but I sensed a lack of love for a marginal Catholic visitor. Let's address the doors of the church that remain closed for most of the day and late adoration prayer here is nonexistent. God said His house is a house of prayer. Shameful.The bible says in John 17:35 that "they will know you by the love you have for one another." I hope pope Leo will reforms Saint Annes. It is a beautiful sanctuary, but they need to work on love and Charity. (1 Corinthians chapter 13.) As a Christian, I am deeply disappointed by the behavior and prideful rudeness of the staff here. The church ladies seemed to genuinely enjoy being condescending and disrespectful towards our team for a wedding, several times throughout our time here. They purposefully sought us out while standing still, waiting for the ceremony to start, to threaten us again and again that they would ask us to leave if we didn’t follow the rules during the ceremony. We have photographed hundreds of catholic ceremonies in the past 12 years and have never been mistreated like this. (This is the first review we have ever written.) Our team respects all rules and regulations for every church we enter but it was disheartening for us to endure their tone of voice, facial expressions and unnecessary threats without cause. Kindness and love goes such a long way and it was disappointing to witness people that claim to serve God, treat strangers as poorly as they did us. We, unfortunately, will never accept another wedding here because of it. We understand that humans are imperfect and make mistakes but to purposefully mistreat someone over and over again is no longer a mistake. The staff who oversee wedding ceremonies were by far the rudest individuals I’ve ever dealt with in my 7 years in weddings. I’ve photographed and filmed countless weddings and have never had any issues with staff from churches or venues. The staff here immediately treated all vendors with disrespect and attempted to belittle us with commands. Prior to the ceremony, we were briefed with the rules for photographers and videographers for the ceremony service, only to be immediately threatened to be kicked out if we did not follow every rule.
